My mother isn’t the type of person who wants 2 cats, 4 kittens, 2 dogs and a guinea pig roaming around the house. So talking about it to her was going to be difficult. I just went for it and asked her, not knowing what to say or what will happen. After an hour of searching, I found a guinea pig for sale not even an hour away.

During my junior year in high school I visited the oncology area at St. Christopher's hospital for children with the Quilt for Kids a nonprofit organization dedicated to brightening the lives of children who suffer from abuse or life threatening illnesses. Oncology is the study and treatment of tumors such as cancer. The volunteers made quilts for the kids for support and comfort during their recovery. I made two-horse stuffed animals instead of a quilt, I wanted them to hold on to something while they went to a difficult process. I made a chestnut-brown horse color, with hazel eyes, and light-colored hair. The other horse was a dun horse with tannish tint, with brown eyes and dark long hair. This experience had an emotional impact on me it…

She sat stroking his dirty coat until he knew he was safe in her arms. After a warm bath and a large bowl of food, she gently put the drowsy puppy in his pen and waited until he fell asleep. As the darkness outside began to disappear with the rising sun, she sat stroking the sleeping dog while thinking of the horrors he must have been through. As the clock on the wall rang in the hour, her mind was sent back to reality. She made her morning rounds and unlocked the door just slightly before eight. The poor thing didn't understand what was happening but could tell that no one wanted to look at him. He saw many dogs of all shapes and sizes leave with new owners and finally understood. Ever since I was a child, I have always adored the idea of working with animals when I grew up. I can remember telling my friends and family that one day I would own the most amazing zoo they could imagine, and people would visit from all over the world. Back then; I had no idea what it would take to reach that kind of level, however now my dreams and aspirations seem much less unrealistic and more a goal that I can see myself achieving through hard work and determination. My admiration towards animals lead to consistently pleading my parents to buy me a pet, and I remember them buying me my first pet; two goldfish for me and my sister. Since then, I have had the responsibility of looking after many family pets such which has only made my passion and fascination…
