How Rosie Bush Changed My Life
I did not know another person could have made such an impact on my life, especially to the extent of making me the woman I am today. My mother, Rosie Bush, inspired me to become the best person I can be. She taught me to never settle for less no matter how hard times may get and to continue to push forward regardless of the obstacles. Most importantly, she instilled in me the importance of family.
My mother, who stood 5 feet 7 inches, caramel-brown skin, round face with high cheekbones, and weighting about 157 pounds; was a single parent of three kids, two girls and one boy. She was very firm when it came to her children. She would not allow any grade in her house below a B-. She pushed my sister and me the hardest when it came to education. Her favorite saying was “You can’t sit around and depend on no one to take care of you; you need to get out there and get it yourself.” My mother dropped out of high school when she was pregnant with my sister. Sometimes I think she was harder on us because she did not graduate from high school and she realized how hard it was to have kids and not have at least a high school education.

In the evening after school, we would go to work with her and try to help her clean buildings. However, the majority of the time my sister and I, played hide and go seek in the corner offices with blue carpet and long brown shiny desks with black chairs and/or cubicles with blue carpet and short desks with ceramic tops and black chairs. I know it was somewhat of a disappointment to my mom knowing that she had to take her kids to work with her because she could not afford daycare. Luckily, you would not have known that because she always smiled and acted as if everything was ok. She never allowed us to see her down no matter how much her feet hurt from being on them all day or how tired she was from working all

One day, Martha got a call to run for state legislature and that is when her career really picked up. It paid off two years later when she won” (Collins 66). This is another reason why…

Justina ford inspired me and an insane amount of others related to an African American woman to follow her dreams of being a doctor or whatever they dream of accomplishing. Also, she taught me to try even if there are obstacles trying to stop you . I am not African American or a woman so it would be easier for a man to work up to this kind of job, but this shows that women around the world are trying their hardest to accomplish an accomplishment no one else could think of achieving and to me that is extraordinarily inspiring. Also, she was the first African American woman to become a doctor and that shows me that if one woman can accomplish that then I would enjoy hearing more of what other women in this kind of situation can achieve in order…

It was very tiring for Li, it was even more stressful when she was pregnant with me, she still had to continue working 10 hours a day. Giving birth to me was probably the most painful struggle for her, she went into critical condition due to a c-section. She had loss and a lot of blood, yet, 2 weeks later, she got back on her feet and continued to do her usual. Even after all of that, my mother was still…

My mom contained high expectations of me seeing as though I was the first born. My parents expected me to be mature, well behaved, and to excel academically. My mom's expectations primarily were realistic and typically attainable. However, when I made a mistake my mom was okay that I learned from my mistakes. After my parents divorce I started to realize my father adopted the authoritarian style to parenting me and my younger siblings. My dad was extremely strict he enforced tough rules and incredibly high expectations. For instance, I received a bad report from school and my dad took away television, video games, and sweets from me for two weeks. In elementary school, I developed new skills like reading, writing, learning to write in cursive, and mathematical skills. I attended a Christian school so I also gained knowledge on the Bible and Christian values. Since I excelled in Erik Erikson's industry vs inferiority stage it helped build my self esteem and confidence. My academic performance pleased my parents and therefore encouraged me to continue to put forth effort in school. According to Erikson I believe that I conquered the industry stage because my productivity throughout the years has led me to…

When I was a child, I was very shy. I didn't like talking to other people, or even being around others for long periods of time because it made me very nervous. My parents signed me up for theater to force me out of my comfort zone, and I fell in love. I became the person who I am today, a confident, energetic social butterfly, because I was exposed to something new that made me grow as a human being. Even though people can grow to become experts in a specific field, if they don't step outside of their comfort zone, they will never grow as a person because growing as a person involves trying new things and taking risks. Trying new things is key to personal growth. An example of this is Hillary Clinton. When Clinton was a child, she…

I didn't grow up in the most conventional household. My parents both worked and we consistently had babysitters and nannies taking care of us most of my childhood. My mom was the “breadwinner” she had always made significantly more than my dad and there was really no reason for my dad to work in the first place, he really just did it because he loved it. As my 4 brothers and I got older it got progressively harder on my parents being away from home so much. When a job opportunity with less hours and a sizable amount of money came to my mom she was quick to consider it. She eventually made her decision, consulting my dad very little, she made the decision to move across the country to a place we all had never been to.…

My father also trained all us kids for track every year whether we liked it or not. We lived on a road called one house road and ironically we were the only house there. Every morning was the same, when it was time to go to the bus for school, my father would make us run all the way to the end of the road and when we got off the bus then we had to run all the way home. The great thing about us running together is we pushed each other to do better and made us feel like a team. Also helping my mother with things around the house, like the children, cleaning, and cooking. My mother relied a lot me, she felt I was the most responsible out of her children so I was given more tasks to do. One thing my mother always made sure we did every Sunday and Wednesday was go to church services. Living in the country made it easy to focus on religion which is exactly what our mother made sure we did. If you ever said anything…

She had to provide for 3 growing kids and herself, she never went to college until she was about 35 when she got her associate’s degree at a nearby community college. Growing up, for my mother, was not exactly a fairy tale. Just like me, my mother grew up with a young mom as well. However, my grandmother was only sixteen when she gave birth for the first time. Unfortunately, at these times teen pregnancy was not as common as it is now, and my grandmother was constantly looked down upon for that. Because of this my grandmother was never very affectionate with my mother, and tended to put on the responsibility of raising and taking care of my mom on my great grandmother.…
