How Does Martin Luther King Use Emotive Language

PEE Paragraph #1- Martin Luther King used emotive language on pg 3. “ I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” I think the intended effect of this quote is to show that people shouldn’t live in a place where they can’t be themselves. And that people are created equal and everyone is human not just white folk. I think it really got to the audience because adding word children in the speech makes people realize that they don’t want their children growing up in a place of violence and racism, in fact any children not just their own. He really emphasised the word “little” which shows that they still have so much life ahead of them, and it also makes the audience feel sympathy, Maybe even nod their head in agreement. This quote is very emotional and I imagine got to the audience pretty well.
And that they are a whole and our all the same and equal. I think it would give the audience a bit of a hint that together they are not an “I” or a “me” But a “we”. And that they will always stick together, and always stick up together against the people treating others cruelly. It also is a very creative way of making the audience feel like they are a key part to what he is saying and that it’s almost as if they are up their saying the speech alongside him.
