How Does Henry's Daughters Violate Ethics
Our moral code, the laws by which we live by, these are our ethics. In the case of Henry’s Daughters, they violate ethics each in their own way. The main way they both violate ethics is by talking about their company’s projects to each other. This is wrong because they are releasing information that is supposed to known to only those who work for that specific company. This violates the first law of the engineering code of ethics. Henry’s younger daughter only got her job because of the help of her father. This violates the 5th code in the code of ethics for engineering, which states “Engineers shall avoid deceptive acts”. Julie’s boss took the credit for her work violating number nine in professional obligations. Laura’s company is violating ethics by taking people out from other companies and influencing them, and Laura is just as much at fault because she fails to address the issue.

For starters, some of her ethical wrongs include stealing code from another company, talking about her work with her sister and finally, not reporting her boss for stealing the work she did. The biggest issue though is the fact that Julie stole code from her sister. After her sister showed Julie the code, Julie rewrote the code, so it is her own, how it’s not her project nor while it’s a rewrite, she doesn’t give credit to the original author of the code. Thus, it’s somewhat karma that she gets her work stolen from her when her boss steals it from her, however while both people are stealing, no one ever reports these incidents. One way to fix Julie’s problems would be either to report herself and her boss for stealing the idea of an individual without giving them credit, or she shouldn’t have stolen the code to begin with.     By him admitting that he was wrong it also helped put others people involved into the limelight. Regardless of whether he admitted it he probably would have gotten some sort of punishment, but in this case actions speak louder than words. The most important ethical decision is the decision to claim responsibility. The next most important issue would be how Laura deals with the situation as a third party evaluator. If she had not initiated the investigation it never would have been addressed and everything would have gone according to plan.
