Identifying the appropriate questions to direct and guide the researcher is potentially the most important element in the research process. Unfortunately; like many problem sets, the questions regarding the funding of nonprofits are not clear and concise and all aspect should be carefully considered. Nonprofit organizations span from social and recreational clubs to major public charities and human services. Has the Federal government and State financial reductions affected all of the nonprofits equally? If not, how have the cutbacks differed among the different elements and types of nonprofit…
One of the most striking differences between for-profit and nonprofit corporations is where each gets its input. For-profit corporations rely on employees and consultants, people in the company's employ, to help do the analyses and create the visions. Nonprofits usually invite outside stakeholders, those who support or benefit from the organization's work, to participate in strategic…

Do you think there can be too much participation in the community? Well according to some there isn’t enough participation going on in our communities at all. Citizen participation may be a process in which people take part voluntary or legally forced to do either alone or in a group. According to our book, communitarian view praises citizen participation not just in the voting but by participating in groups and working with their neighbors to solve the problems of the community. One way to participate is volunteering as civic participation. Civic means working to make a difference in the civic life of the communities through both political and non-political processes. You can volunteer at different places, for instance: children groups, shelters,…

You made a very good point with your comment about being able to understand the needs of people from other geological backgrounds. This made me think about needs from a volunteers’ prospective. How important is it to meet the needs of the volunteer? So, I began to research this and came across a guide about this very topic called, “Strategic Volunteer Engagement: A Guide for Nonprofit and Public Sector Leaders.” In it, author Rehnborg (2009) and her assistants resolved that, “no framework, regardless of how thoroughly conceptualized, is a substitute for getting to know the unique needs and concerns of each volunteer” (Concluding Thoughts section, para. 5).…
To me, community involvement entails not only existing within the community space, but also taking action to provide a sustainable support system to that same community. It is not enough to live passively,…

He points to civic engagement which influences the quality of citizens’ lives, different institutions, and the government. High civic engagement was measured by high voter turnout, newspaper readerships, and community groups and organizations. Since the 1960s, the measure of all these crucial factors have been…
Nonprofits provide a service with the ultimate goal which do not include profits. Businesses are always improving to make the most money for their company. Nonprofits play a great part in the economy. They provide jobs and take in revenue, they produce goods and services and contribute in significant ways to our region’s economic stability and growth.…
In its conceptual idea, nonprofits were meant to be completely separate from both government entities and for profits. However, history has shown that not only is that idea unrealistic, but it is inefficient as well. These three sectors all have symbiotic relationships with one another. In simplified terms, governments receive funds mainly through taxes. Taxes that citizens have the means to pay by their jobs at for profit businesses. Nonprofits receive their funds entirely from government grants, or private donations from individuals or businesses. Businesses and citizens alike receive the services provided by both government…

Sororities are commonly known as a college social club or organization for women, with particular distinction given to the African American sororities. Brought about at the time in history when traditional roles of women were being challenged, the founders of the first black sororities had to overcome the stereotypical views of sexism as well. They were considered unique, although college wasn’t really an option for African American’s. Within society they were being treated in rejection because they were black. They wanted to have an organization that would be called sisterhood and ties into their community. Nine dedicated women wanted peace, sisterhood and wanted to become leaders amongst their communities so they formed the first African American sorority in 1908 called Alpha Kappa Alpha. With over a quarter of a millions members in the black sororities numbers are increasing over the years. They continue to be a part of their communities and educate youth in their community. When actual Greek letters were formed for sororities and fraternities white letter groups didn’t think black fraternity groups would be capable of understanding the meanings of the letters and Greek study as they did.…
Many times we as Americans do not think about the effect that civic engagement brings to the country. We do not think that being active in the community will not only help us but also our children and our children’s children. Robert Putman wrote about the effects and difference that civic engagement has done over time. In this analysis I will summarize both of the analysis and talk about the different arguments and my own experiences in civic engagement.…
