How Disney Changed My Life
Close your eyes and begin to envision a land where imagination roams free, childhood fills the air, and happiness is all around you. You might believe this dream can never be a reality, but there is such a place. This magical, surreal land is Disney; something which is a momentous influence on my life. For most, Disney seems like either a vacation destination or an opulent company. Yet I see it as a refuge, a place of wonder I never want to leave.
Typically, the aforementioned statement is answerable with a person, but I decided to take on an unexpected perspective. Throughout my life, I faced innumerable personal struggles and felt as though I had no way of evading them, until I realized where my true sanctuary lies. I constantly deal with anxiety and stress from my perfectionist persona and the scrutinization of my self-worth. However, when the dilemmas in my life and these strong emotions become too much for me to handle, I turn to Disney. It can be as simple as listening to their music or watching one of the animated films. Through these therapeutic actions, I find myself in a place where no one can hurt me and my pain slowly vanishes. My junior year

Every summer, I relive my juvenility. Rather than childhood, stress is the distant memory. I become the five-year-old girl who wishes she too could be a Disney Princess living happily ever after. However, the imagination does not stop there; each land is a new adventure waiting to be explored. One day I might be an astronaut preparing for my first flight to Mars on Mission Space. Another I am venturing through the Amazon on the Jungle Cruise. I even get to travel back in time to save an Iguanodon from extinction aboard a time rover on the ride, Dinosaur. The possibilities are endless, new, and exhilarating. Each year, I enter the park, take a breathe, and know I am finally

Disney was founded on Walt’s ability to create and innovate new characters. Disney offered an experience that was aimed at the family instead of just children. This translated to their theme park because Walt wanted to create a theme park that the whole family could enjoy (including the dad) and have the experience be innovative and exciting. Disney continues to operate in a way that appeals to more than just the child audience in all their business ventures. Walt’s vision is still evident throughout Disney and will continue to stand as a guide as they continue to pave their future.…

When Walt Disney started his company his goal was to “produce great visual entertainment” (Igner, 2008). An idea that quickly took off like a wild fire and grew into a dynasty. Disney still encompasses the visual media but also includes the additions of parks, resorts, consumer products, television stations, animation departments, and movie picture organizations. Each department has goals, missions, and values, but they strive for the same espoused values: “Innovation, Quality, Community, and Storytelling. Optimism, and Decency”. (Sklar) All these values are engrained into the employees by a university they created to teach each cast member (employee) who they are working for, why they are working there, what their goals should be, and how they should carry out their work. This paper will cover those espoused values that Disney strives to reach on a day-to-day, year-to-year, person-by-person basis; and also discuss the enacted values that take place in the magical Never Never Land.…

The sound of kids laughing ringed through my ears as the Disney All-Star Movies transportation bus pulled up to the parking lot at Walt Disney World Resort. My stomach began to turn as the butterflies fluttered rapidly. I trailed behind my family as we walked towards the opening gates. My smile stretched across my face, and my cheeks began to feel sore. I listened as my mom gave her safety instructions. I was ready to go. I was ready to ride the rides. I was ready see the famous Disney Castle. I was ready to meet all of my role model Disney princesses. I was ready to go.…

I can relate to this quote because this is how my family feels about our yearly Disney trips. My parents work hard to be able to vacation the places we want, especially Walt Disney World, our favorite vacation spot. We enjoy the memories that we make in this magical place, and it amazes me that it all started with the iconic Mickey Mouse. Throughout the…

There is most likely no one in this country that has not heard of Disneyland, Disneyworld, or even Mickey Mouse. They are too popular to not know. Walt Disney had an idea of what the people wanted so he decided that he was going to make them come true because “all our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them” (Disney)(“Walter Elias Disney”). Walter Disney wanted to leave an impression on the world that all things are possible. He took the dreams of Americans and made them come true, and to this day, Disney has inspired many and even gave them something to smile about (“Walt Disney: Long Biography”). Disney had many ways of making his audience want more by coming up with films, animations, comic strips, documentaries, songs, and theme parks (“Disney’s Vision for America”). To this day, people still continue to enjoy his works of…

I strongly disagree with Fowls comments. He believes that Disney is taking over children's lives and that it reinforces a simplistic and narrow view of life. I do not believe that this is correct. Every little girl wants to be a beautiful princess and every boy, a big, strong man, who fights off the bad guys. These are just dreams though and we want to give our youth something to believe in.…

What wonderful goals and principals to have and to how nice it is that a company believes in inspiring people to be the best that they can be. If more companies shared Disney’s beliefs, values and principals, think how we could change the negativity that exists in the world now. Disney World is the most enjoyable place I have ever been. The sights and sounds are outstanding there. Every corner presents new attractions. The noise of laughing children fills the air. Music plays loudly amidst the laughter filled streets. Delicious aromas engulf my nostrils while passing restaurants. Just as a child, adults become excited when Mickey shows up. The feeling possessed while on a ride exceeds expectation. It may appear a theme park, but a magical experience would be more fitting.…

Even though I have ridden the Magical Express bus from Orlando Airport many times, I always vibrate with excitement as I crane my neck out the window to get my first glimpse of Space Mountain. The monorail zooms beside our bus, pointing the way to the Magic Kingdom. Finally, we reach the sign announcing our arrival at the Magic Kingdom. When we walk through the dark tunnel at the front gate, it always feels as if I am entering another world. I see Pluto hugging a boy and signing autographs. Walking next to him is a man with so many Mickey Mouse balloons it looks like he could drift away to the moon. I hear Ragtime music that makes me want to dance with my Mom. I hear bubbling laughter all around me, and everything sparkles and shines like it was made special just for me. I keep returning to Walt Disney World because when I do, I feel like I’m coming home.…

When I think of Disney World I see it as this monument that has a place in all childhood memories. These memories include a lot of happiness and most importantly, fun with the family. After all of the time that I took trips to Disney, I can still clearly see the smiling children gushing over their favorite Disney characters and the equally excited parents who had to speed walk just to keep up with them. Another memory that is evident, is that feeling of nerves a person feels when they’re about to get on a scary rollercoaster, but also that feeling of accomplishment that comes after once they’ve conquered it. Disney World represents home to me not only because of the great experiences that come with it, but because it is located in my hometown Orlando. I have to admit I do miss living there and knowing that Disney World is not too far away always gives me an excuse to visit. As a kid, I would always go on trips to Disney World and its image is a fond reminder of all those happy memories and easier…

When we think Disneyland, we think the happiest place on earth. For those who think this is an exaggeration, let me shed some light on why this place is magical for me. Disneyland to me means family traditions with a heart full of happiness and love. When you first enter Disneyland, you are overcome with a vast amount of emotions. I get a nervous feeling deep inside my gut. The excitement overwhelms me, knowing that in just a few small steps, I will see the castle at the end of Main Street. The smell of churros are in the air. The crowds are filled with children and parents. You can hear children’s laughter and excitement. And if you look closely, you can see Mickey and friends in the corner signing autographs and taking pictures. I close my…
