How Did The Civil War Change America
Although civil war led to loss of many lives about 620,000, it was worth its cause. Civil war led to the end of slavery and preserved the union. It also brought many changes to America. It made America take a step in a new direction. It I feel as though slavery has been abolished the hurt is still there. Slavery was a terrible phase for America. I think the civil war should always be remembered and be kept in mind as we move on as a nation. “In the end, the Civil War determined what type of a country we would be—united; and what type of a people we would be—free.” (NPS 26)
Finally, the Civil War was caused by slavery as it was a main issue both sides were fighting for. It was not inevitable it eventually was going to happen both sides just

    The Civil War was the greatest and most important war ever to be fought on American soil. Though the events leading to the civil war had been ongoing for some time, the Civil War was never inevitable; it was the result of prejudices and extremism and failures in leadership on the sides of both the North and the South. The Civil War was at first a war to bring back the secessionists back to the union but it later became a much greater event, a war to end slavery and a war forever remembered by the America peoples. The South had many grievances against the North and vice versa and these problems later evolved into the war against the lifeblood of the South: Slavery. And thus, all slaves were set free by an act, an act long remembered by the colored peoples of America, The Emancipation proclamation. Before the war had been fought by the North to bring the South back in to the Union and by the South to stay a separate country.     Slavery started in America when the colonist traded rum and molasses with Africa in exchange for slaves, this was part of the triangular trading system. From there on many slaves were brought from Africa, their journey is known as the “Middle Passage” which was a horrific journey because half of the slaves died on the ships.     The next cause is the Fugitive Slave Act. This was a law passed in 1850 stating that every runaway slave must be captured and turned back in to its master. I think that this is a cause of the civil war because some slaves were actually free. So if there was a black person somewhere where black people usually aren’t then someone would tell on that person and they would go back to being a slave.
