How Did The 3D Art Recuerdo De Machu Picchu No. 3?
Eduardo Ramirez Villamizar was born in Colombia and he went to the Nacional University of Bogota to study architecture. He started to make sculptures around 1960. Ramirez is influenced by his memory of pre Columbian art. Ramirez made the 3D art Recuerdo de Machu Picchu no.3 (Las terrazas) in 1984 and now it is located at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Ramirez used oxidized iron to make the sculpture. This sculpture captivated my attention because I did not know what it was. My first impression was that it was stairs, but after I read the description and the title; I could understand what the sculpture is about. The sculpture is different from the original work, because it has an abstract style. Abstract style doesn’t represent the external …show more content…
Also, the artwork has geometric shapes that make it differ from the original work. The volume of the art is smaller than the original, but it can still imply it. The straight lines of the sculpture represent the mountains and the different layers of the Machu Picchu city. Furthermore, the color of oxidized iron makes it look like it is an old sculpture. It looks old because represents the time that Machu Picchu was created. In conclusion, Ramirez made this wonderful artwork to represent one of the 7 wonders of the world. Also, it is made of one of the strongest metals on Earth, it means that it will be preserved for a long time.

The are 3 tables lineup and the one in the center has LEGO bricks to build and create a new structure on the other two tables located on the sides. In this artwork the visitors contributed to make it evolve over time. This an example of 4D art because it is changing over time and interacts with the visitors. The main purpose of this art is to have people participate in the same type of creative thinking as engineers and architectures, but they can find it interesting or they can pursue the career. There is no limit age to participate in the artwork. There is not an end in this particular artwork. Different people come to the museum and they change or add to the imaginary city. Also, each individual has their own vision and perspective on the art, thereby they make something different from the previous visitor that went there. The Lego pieces have one color and it is called monochromatic. It is monochromatic because it’s meant to show the shape of the buildings made of Lego pieces. Also, if there are colors, they people would be interested in the colors and no of the shape and the structure.

Shapes and volume are used not only to form man-made objects in the painting, but as the foundation for natural landmarks as well. In the foreground, the cinder wall is intricately composed of various triangles and squares, all connected by lines. The abovementioned tree is also composed of shapes, with two, well-defined circles acting as knots in the wood. The houses in the village below are constructed with well-defined lines to represent three-dimensional forms, with cubes and elongated triangular forms composing roofs. A small dirt plot in the shape of a square dominates the area of the closest houses of the municipality.…

The monument is in a very good condition although some part of the stone are chipped off. The overall form and figure were kept in a very good condition; therefore, it shows the advantages of using marble. Since marble is a long lasting material, the work that created on marble stone would last longer than other materials. But at the same time marble stone is a very hard material to carve on, and it would take more time to create a piece of art than using any other materials. Also, the transportation would be hard, because it is very heavy, so damages would…

Many artists enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts and creating them. Most artists think of themselves in one or more of the roles when approaching their art work. First, artists believe they are helping people to see the world in new and innovative ways. Secondly, they believe they are making a visual record of places, people, and events of their time and place (Sayre, 2009). Third, they are making functional objects and buildings more pleasurable and giving them meaning, and finally, artists believe they are giving form to immaterial ideas and things (Sayre, 2009).…

The sculptors who created Blue Woman in Black Chair and Untitled (Large Man) used many aspects to give life and meaning to their creations. Lines are used distinctly in both sculptures. The artists take advantage of space when creating their pieces along with a little naturalism. One sculptor uses color on his figure. Their technique, although different, brings individuality and texture to their works.…

In the following picture, there are various artistic elements and formats. In the background and foreground of the image, it is a neutral color scheme, consisting of whites and browns. In the center of the picture, you will see three basketballs floating in a straight line in an underwater tank. This sculpture really gives the image an architectonic feel. First off the table that is holding the tank is made up of linear lines and the tank is also made up of linear lines which makes the geometric shape of a rectangle. The bold lines around the tank are the contour lines. Inside the tank, it gives the viewer an attectonic feel due to the basketballs inside. The basketballs are made up of curvilinear lines and each ball has a type of writing on, which I will talk about later. The middle basketball brings out the complementary colors, which are orange and blue. The tank is a three-dimensional figure. All in all, this image brings something to the art world.…

Another interesting aspect of this relief is the frame. The gold inlay gives the piece a portal to Iconic status. It reminds me of religious icons of the Eastern Orthodox Church, yet it pre-dates them. The culture of 15th and 16th century renaissance scholars was equal passion for the beauty of classical design in all-artistic endeavors. This is evident in the columns that frame the piece, but the roughness of the over all impression of the piece contrasts the lightness of the divine. Essentially making the piece more approachable an accessible to the common…

    The Persistence of Memory

As I find curious in this abstract, I use many researches in reference book and Internet in order to look for the meaning of this picture so far. One interesting idea is about the melting watches that inspire randomly. In one hot August afternoon in 1931, as Dali was having lunch on his work bench, suddenly an idea of paranoiac hallucinations came to his mind. He took his pencil and slid under a bit of Camembert cheese, which was softer by the heating of summer weather, and started drawing. Dali came up with an idea about the melting watches as the main subject. These soft melting watches convey Dali’s primary philosophy about the “softness” and the “hardness”. The melting watches are one symbol that is commonly associated with Salvador Dali's Surrealism. They are literally meant to show the irrelevance of time. According to the Wikipedia website, one famous art history professor named Dawn Ades wrote, “The soft watches are an unconscious symbol of the relativity of space and time, a Surrealist meditation on the collapse of our notions of a fixed cosmic order.” In addition, there are some interesting subjects appearing in this painting such as the craggy rocks of Catalonia spreading out further away. This is the place where he grew up, and also indeed the association with his painting The Persistence of Memory. It shows a typical Dalinian landscape with his beloved Cape Creus (a peninsula and…
