Q: “The devil was coming also.”
C: This is significant in this story because it is so ironic. It is found ironic because in the end of the book we find out that Mr. Pluto is not the devil, but just a sick old man. This is also significant because the entire story revolves around Mr. Small and Thomas finding out if Mr. Pluto really is a devil.
Q: “ ‘Three of them,’said Mr. Small softly, ‘and they’re exactly alike.’ ”
C: This Quote is important because throughout the story Mr. Small and Thomas think that the triangles are apart of a puzzle, or that they are a warning. In reality it was just used for slaves to find their way to freedom and the Darrows had put them there to give them a good scare.
