From my acknowledgment there are plenty of reasons as to why surrounding neighbors and communities could fear the fact of having a halfway house within their neighborhoods. Seeing from the myths and stereotypes that comes about having inmates in halfway house. At my halfways house I would want to let the inmates prove to the community that they shouldn't judge them based on the past. This why I require them meeting with troubled teens that slowly going down the path that they once went down. I feel as if this would change a lot of views on inmates because you'll actually see them working on building themselves and also preventing another person from making the same mistake that they once made. This would bring a positive vibe to the community…

People who are outsiders are misjudged because of their appereance and their attitude. They are misjudged because they look emo, have no hair, have messy clothes or shoes, can't talk, can't walk, can't hear, so on and so foreth. I am going to bring this to the atention to others. I believe outsiders are those who are simply misjudged. Outsiders are not accepted into groups at school, sport teams, and even at their own home because they are misjudged by the people around them.…

Making it more difficult to deal with is that many members of the public are disgusted by the appearance of some of the homeless or are intimidated by their presence on the streets, in post offices and in libraries. A lot of people look the other way, or wish the problem would just go away, or would like to relocate the homeless. And it doesn't help matters when public discourse includes descriptions of the homeless as "drunken bums," "derelicts" and worse. It is perfectly understandable that business owners do not want a homeless person leaning against their front window…

Every once in awhile a person may find himself walking down the street, strutting his stuff. Then he might hear a couple of chords badly put together, poorly strummed, and a voice howling to the wind like a lost puppy in the night. This is probably being done by one of many kids who have left home and decided that it has become too much of a hassle to live in the confines of society. Only to leave home, work, and studies to play their guitar on the side of the street for the one thing they said they despised from the beginning, money. The clear solution is this, hire musicians to teach the howling puppies how to make music correctly.…

I attended a soup kitchen for the homeless at a Hospitality Center located at the Charles Town Presbyterian Church and also a fundraiser event to benefit the Jefferson County Homeless Coalition. At the soup kitchen, I helped volunteer’s setup tables and chairs for prospective patrons to dine. Guests had formed a line outside the doors of the church and waited patiently to be admitted. Once dining hours commenced, volunteers welcomed guests to be seated. Upon entering the building and finding a seat guests were waited on at their respective tables by volunteers and treated as any other patron who would dine in a restaurant. After the meal service concluded, guests departed and volunteers worked together to clean up the dining hall.…

The setting of my experiment happened back in my hometown in different locations. I decided to do different random acts of kindness all day, like giving back to a homeless person, and a few other things. For my first deviant act, I decided to give back to a homeless person I saw near downtown. I had went to McDonalds earlier and bought a burger with a bottled water to give away. I decided to dress up as business attire to see reactions when I approached a homeless stranger. I started to feel nervous because this would have been my time interacting with a random homeless stranger. When I walked up to this woman, I noticed she was sitting down on the sidewalk and looked tired. She had a sign saying she was hungry and didn’t eat in two days. But…

As a students, we eat the food we like every day, go to the mall to get the clothes we want, living in a comfortable apartment and also enjoying a good education environment. We treat this as daily life and take for granted. However, there are a great number of people in United States, they don’t have chance for work, they don’t have a place for sleeping, and they even don’t know if they can get the next meal.
