Education
Education is one of the basic factors which plays a vital role in the development of any nation. Education is an important human activity. Education eliminates unemployment, builds foundation of awareness, tolerance, self esteem, social equity, spreads political socialization and cultural vitality. It was born with the birth of the human race and shall continue to function as long as the human race lives. The importance of education may be summed up as under. * An essential human virtue.

* A necessity for society.
* Important for integration of separate entities.
* Gives significance of life
* Educated men are superior (Aristotle)
* Sign of freedom (Epictetus)
* A controlling grace (Diogenes)
* Basis of good life.
1. An Essential Human Virtue
Education is an essential human virtue. Man becomes 'man' through education. He is what education makes him. It is rightly said that without education, man is a super slave. 2. A Necessity for Society

Education is necessary for society. Education fashions and prepares man for society. Education grooms the social aspect of man and gives man supreme position in society. 3. Important For the Integration of Separate Entities

An individual is made up of different separate interest groups. Education brings about the integration of these separate entities. 4. Gives Significance of Life
Education teaches what man lives and struggles for. It provides an integrated life, by doing so, it gives significance of life. Educated Men Are Superior
Education is a sign of superiority. Aristotle wrote, "Educated men are as much superior to uneducated as the living are to the dead." 5. Sign of Freedom
Education is a sign of freedom. Epictetus had said, "Only the educated are free." 6. A Controlling Grace
Diogenes felt that "Education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old wealth to the poor and ornament to the rich." 7. Basis of Good Life
Education is an essential basis of good life. A man becomes a human being in the real sense when he is transformed from primarily an animal being into a human being. In short, education is an essential element of all human societies. Addison said, "What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to the soul".

Education System in Pakistan
After independence, efforts have been made to relate the education system to the needs and inspirations of the country. All Education Conference was held in 1947 as per directives of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He provided the basic guidelines for the future development of education that the education system should suit the intellect of our people, in connection with our history, culture and provides the highest sense of honor, integrity, responsibility, and selfless service to the nation. It should also provide scientific and technical knowledge to build up our economic life. Various commissions were appointed which submitted their reports periodically. The 1959 Report of the Commission on National Education enjoys a superior position in the history of educational reforms.
