Helping Teenager In Crisis Summary
Introduction In this book, The Youth Worker’s Guidance to Helping Teenager in Crisis, the authors, Rich Van Pelt and Jim Hancock, talk about different kinds of crisis that can be happening during the adolescence. It is important to understand that when a student is suffering crisis in his/her life, youth worker should be the one helping them get out of the mess properly. Not surprisingly, individuals experience crisis throughout their lives. In fact, although two people get the same challenge, their reactions might be different. In other words, youth workers should have the understanding of crisis and learn how to cope with crisis situations. That way, people can help students deal with their lives and crisis. Also, the two authors who are youth workers described all kinds of crisis situations, which can be very helpful resources for youth workers.
Summary
The book explains how crisis affect teenagers’ lives negatively with the definition of crisis. “Crisis is a period of disequilibrium that overpowers a person’s homeostatic mechanisms.” (Rich Van and Jim 2007, 15). Youth

For instance, it has self-evaluation sheet that helps students examine if they have any difficulties in their lives. they also offer a number of definitions for services term that youth worker should be aware of.
Conclusion
In sum, today students are in crises, and youth workers should be out there looking for them. Sometimes, having a desire to give a helping hand cannot be enough for the student to receive any help. This is why youth workers should grow spiritually and build an upright character in order to be the right person for a student. Not only that, youth workers should have a fully understanding of a number of possible crises and then they can take a proper action embracing the problems that teenagers suffer.
