Crisis is any event that is expected to lead to an unstable and dangerous situation affecting an individual, group, community or whole society. Currently one urgent crisis that my unit is facing is lack of support from upper management and unclear directions. Due to these conditions many of the employees are becoming disengaged and are no longer motivated and willing to go above and beyond to complete their duties and provide the best customer services. According to Berman, there are five conditions for successful change…

ECO204: Solutions to Homework 5 1. True, False, Uncertain a. False. Methods to eliminating moral hazard include writing efficient contracts between principals and agents, bonding and deferred payments. The methods to eliminate adverse selection include sending signals and relying on 3rd parties to verify quality. b. True. When there is asymmetric information, it drives out high-quality goods because consumers have a difficult time differentiating between high- and low-quality goods. As a result, they are only willing to make an offer equal to the expected value, which is lower than the value of the high-quality good. This drives out sellers of high-quality goods, so that only low quality goods are sold. When there are only low quality goods in the market, the price that is offered (the EV) is higher than the value of the product or its marginal cost (allowing sellers of low-quality goods to make a profit). c. False. Principals will write contracts for their agents to prevent moral hazard, not adverse selection. d. False. For contracts to be efficient, they must not only discourage moral hazard (the opportunity to lie/cheat the principal), but also encourage efficiency in production (the agent should produce the optimal units of output that max profits) and allocate risk efficiently (the risk-averse individual bears less risk than the risk-neutral individual). e. Uncertain – it depends on the contract. According to the summary table on contracts we filled out (I’ve posted this on Blackboard) there are instances where the individual was originally not efficiently producing goods under perfect information, but later changed their behavior with asymmetric information because there was an opportunity to underreport his/her effort level and profit from the sale of unreported goods (Cases 2a and 3a). For these two cases, the statement is false. Since the sale price of unreported goods is dependent on the equilibrium market price, the worker will switch from being…

So, the culture would impact the operation ways of a corporation. Through the prevalent theory of Hofstede’s culture division, we understood that Chinese culture has its characteristics which could be portrayed as long power distance, collectivism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation. The Chinese enterprise has long been the epitome of the massive collective, where employees usually treated their organization as their family. Additionally, these large organizations and government related enterprises had a multitude of standardized procedures and regulations, numerous managerial levels, and promotions based on knowledge of and obedience to these procedures and policies, exemplifying the hierarchy culture (A.Ralson, Jane, H. Terpstra, Wang, C.Egri, 2006). And this study, we will review some literatures at first sector and get comprehensive insight of Chinese corporate culture, and discuss the relationship between corporate culture and innovation capability through interview with some corporations’ leaders in second sector. Man Need

Tolstoy’s short story – “How much land does a man need?” — is a religious-morality tale which can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but which seems primarily concerned with the destructive consequences of human ambition. The story is about a man named Pahom – a peasant farmer — who desires to acquire more land, acquires some land, but is not satisfied and needs to acquire more. Eventually he over-reaches, forfeits all his accumulated wealth and causes his own death. (*See below for a Summary of story). The message to take from the story may be as simple as a warning against biting off more than you can chew, or we could say simply that the story shows how human nature pushes us to want more and more. We are never content with our lives, no matter how well off we may be; and , while trying to improve our standard of living, we put ourselves in danger of ending up with nothing.…

Throughout the history, people have a lot of problem and still they have loads of problem to solve until they die. I am the one who include these people. Mostly I don’t have a problem, mean I didn’t have serious problem in my life. I live with my parents since 2010 and I came to the United State in August 2010. The first time, within 20 year, I lived alone in NYC and I stated my new life alone. Honesty, I did not see any big problem so I have never thought how to solve the problem. Now I found a problem which always makes me feel uncomfortable. It is about my relationship and it makes me feel unsafe between me and my society.…

In no way is the generational difference of employees problematic to a workplace, nor does it pose any harm as long as there is effective communication among generations, but the real situation among generations in workplaces is quite another thing. This essay aims to contribute to the investigation of the ‘real situation’ about generational differences in workplaces. Firstly, causes, which are the lack of understanding probably due to biases, common attitudes and tools of communication worth an in-depth investigation, followed by consequences of the problem, that is confusion, mistanding, and even confilcits of each other. Ultimately, solutions of the problem due to generational differences in a workplace will be delineated.…
