Health Effects Of Football Essay
Health Effects of Football Playing football has positive and negative effects on the body of the player compared to people who do not play. Playing football can cause the player to remain stronger mentally and physically than the people who do not play. On the other hand, football players have the mental and physical stress shoved on them by the constant physical contact of the sport. People who chose not to play football at all also have benefits and disadvantages in their health. Football has many upsides and downfalls to playing the sport.
The positive aspects of playing football are that the athletes are in better mental and physical condition than the average man. Playing football shapes boys into men by instilling a good work ethic, teamwork, overcoming adversity, and problem solving which aides in good mental health. Playing football also makes the body of the player have an “adrenaline rush which aide in stress relief” (Becic). Football also teaches athletes to properly weight train and become stronger and more agile. “Football players are usually required to have a high protein and carbohydrate diet because the sport is so vigorous and requires them to be strong. The strength training exercises help with increased mass and bone density, which reduces the risk of bone and joint related diseases as you get older”

“In organized high school sports, concussions occur more often in competitive sports, with football accounting for more than 60% of concussions” (Brain). Other mental injuries caused my football are Dementia, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, and Long-Term Depression. Some of the physical injuries are bone breaks and fractures, ligament tears, joint dislocation, sprains, bruises, deep cuts, turf toe, and long-term arthritis.
