Hard Knocks Expository Essay Did you know that “More than 50% of Americans don’t want their sons to play football” (2)? Well it’s true because hard hits can result in concussions which can cause life-time negative health effects. Concussions occur when the brain receives a hard hit and it the brain shakes in the skull. While the government and school districts have already required safer techniques, companies should create safer equipment and coaches should enforce safer tackling techniques because otherwise, hard tackles can culminate in committing suicide, can cause CTE, can cause constant headaches, and injuries can result in memory loss.

This is significant because constant headaches can cause people to be in bed for many weeks and they can’t do any activities that require movement because it might trigger the headache. Also, constant headaches can cause many people to go on many medications that have side effects.
“...and memory problems that can persist for months or years” (17). This is important because with memory loss, you can forget many precious moments of your life you had or memories that you wanted to last a lifetime. Memory loss can make you forget important things, such as if you are on medication, with memory loss, you may forget to take it, possibly resulting in a trip to the hospital.
In conclusion, hard hits in football can result in C.T.E., constant headaches, memory loss, and committing suicide. Companies should create safer equipment and coaches should enforce safer tackling techniques because then there will be less concussions and less people will commit suicide. Also, people who get concussions won’t be on so many medications that can also result in death. Even though many safer techniques are in play, what can you do to decrease
