Greek Heroes Vs Modern Day Heroes Essay

What do people think of when they hear hero? When some people hear the word hero they think of Spiderman, Superman, Batman, and all the other superheroes, but having special powers doesn’t always make you a hero. Heroes can be anyone or anything, they can also do deadly tasks, or do the most simplest of things. Ancient Greek heroes would go on deadly quests defeating monsters of all shapes and sizes, like how Perseus slayed Medusa. Modern day heroes do things a bit differently, but that doesn’t make them any less of a hero. What makes a hero isn’t their appearance or the size of their arms or legs, but the quality of their heart. The Ancient Greek heroes and modern heroes share many of the same qualities, but they each possess their own quality.
Have you heard of the hero Achilles? Achilles was an Ancient Greek Hero. He battled in the Trojan War. He showed great leadership by commanding fifty ships in the Trojan War, as well as appointing five commanders. With that he could also be considered to be brave, helping win the Trojan War.
Ancient Greek heroes are often recognized as being brave. Today’s heroes don’t have to be brave to prove themselves. Today’s heroes are seen as humble, alert people. We are no special beings, just ordinary people with the will to do something good for others. Ancient Greek weren’t so much selfless like today’s heroes are. Don’t think they were all selfish, because they were not; in our era we are not doing it for our own pride, but for the safety and health of others. In contrast, modern day heroes are caring compared to the Ancient Greeks. They take the time to see if they can meet someone or something needs, or if they can accompany someone. We don’t see or hear that in stories of the ancient heroes. Don’t mistaken the fact that even though they are heroes, doesn’t mean they have been equivalent all this
