Grace Reed: County Medical Society Answering Service
Grace Reed was a call handler and worked at the County Medical Society Answering Service. Her job was to answer calls and communicate with patients and their doctors. She had been working here for 18 months and developed excellent call handling skill, communication skill, training skill and as well as knowing how to schedule workers. When Grace was first hired, she had a very experienced trainer to train her and teach her the skill of handling calls. Grace was good at handling calls and most of the time she was able to handle extremely difficult calls. When suicide calls came in or calls that doctors didn’t want to talk, Grace was the person asked to handle them. Usually people only took 60 to 70 calls per day, but Grace was able to assist 100 to 120 incoming lines. She also helped others to handle calls and solve their problems; …show more content…
This new position can affect their friendship. If your friend becomes the new manager, sometimes he or she could not share certain information with you because of the policy and employee’s loyalty to the company; however, on the other side you may think she was not honest to you. Sometimes you get upset if she calls you out for your behavior or work performance. You believe she is your best friend, she should do something that benefit you instead of make you upset. This is hard for the new manager to make wise decisions and treat every employee fairly. You cannot expect your friend to treat you more favorably than other staff members. Since your friend is in the new position, she and you may view things differently and having different opinions now. Moreover, it could be uncomfortable for the new manager to order her friends to do something for her.     Michael is a Case Manager within Spectrum Health hospitals and has been for four years. Michael is twenty-eight years old and enjoys doing his job although he has stated that it can be difficult at times. Michael stated that sometimes there is over time when other employees call in and case load can be heavy at times. Michael stated that every so often he has to wear a pager so employees within the hospital can get ahold of them when emergent issues arise. On call is every third weekend and four days out of each month where Michael is on call 24/7. As Michael punches in for the day, he meets with patients that are either just admitted or ready for discharge. Michael will help patients gain what they expect within the hospital so they will be pleased with the kind of care they received while in the hospital. Michael will also help patients that are ready to be discharged gain everything needed for their home after they are discharged. Things such as canes, walkers, commodes, home care, Dr. Visit’s, etc. As I asked if Michael has every experience burnout he stated that he has felt burned out before and even a little overwhelmed when he is placed on call for a few days. Michael has never thought about quitting his job but he has felt the need to take a few days off before just to gain a clear mind and get back to work.     The majority of the people in the world don’t intentionally put themselves in dangerous situations, yet tragedies occur every day. Each year a motorcycle hill climbing competition is held in New Plymouth, Idaho called the Big Nasty Hill Climb. On September 19, 2009 my sister’s best friend Lacy Fine set out for a day of fun with her cousin Brittani and her cousin’s boyfriend Carlos to watch the hyped up event. She’s never been the most cautious person because her attention span is that of someone with ADHD or a stereotypical airhead. I say this with love in my heart, because she was literally a part of my family and would never purposefully hurt someone. I can assume from knowing Lacy better than almost anyone that on that Friday she was animatedly singing loudly to the radio or retelling a funny story with voices as usual. Her focus wasn’t on the task at hand of driving and she missed a stop sign coming down a hill and crashed into another truck. None of the passengers were wearing a seatbelt.
