Sophia’s mother’s substance abuse is one of the main concerns for this family, as it interferes with the basic needs of both Sophia and her mother. Basic needs such as being sanitary and being given an education.Sophia once again needs to enter the foster care system, if there is no reliable relatives to care for her. The mother will have to enter and complete a mandatory drug abuse program. She will also have to complete parenting classes. Only supervised visits would be allowed during this time. Also if Sophia is eventually returned for there to be regular home visits, and support given to this family that will need much listening, and guidance during any time period. Get Sophia support such as counseling, one on one/or groups for kids with parents with substance abuse problems. This may help in understanding she is not alone.…
Client is an eight year old, Caucasian female. The client’s mother, age 31, works out of the home. She in not married or in a relationship at this time. Client’s mother is the sole provider for client and her bother, age 10. Client’s mother stated that, “their dad left when she was just a baby and they have had no contact with him since”. Client’s mother stated that client’s dad would drink beer on a regular basis during the time in which they were married. Client’s mother voiced that she and client’s father would argue in front of the children before he left, but they were never violent. Client’s mother voiced that she does not drink alcohol or take drugs and never has. Client’s mother stated that she has never been in jail or in trouble with the law. The current legal status of client’s father is unknown at this time, as he now lives “out of state”. Client’s mother has never remarried and has not brought any boyfriends around the children. Client’s mother stated that client interacts well with her brother, but “they start out playing nice then they get rough and someone starts to cry”.…

Joseph is a fourth grade student who is having a hard time staying out of trouble during lunch and on the playground. Joseph is referred to the social worker for a functional behavioral assessment because of his acting out by hitting other students and pushing them. Joseph is living with his maternal grandmother since both of his parents are incarcerated. Joseph has a history of being physically and emotionally abused as a child. Joseph does not appear to have many friends in school and doesn’t get along well with his three other sibling either. Joseph often complains of having a stomach aches in the mornings and around lunch time. Joseph has been taken to a physician and they have ruled out any medical problems. I was pulled in the loop earlier on this summer by Jackie regarding Alex’s post camp placement. As you might already know, he has no guardians so Jackie and I have been working with probation to identify options. Kim Keating, the AB12 probation supervisor has been incredibly helpful in getting us in touch with the coordinator with Placement Permanency. As of now, it seems like there may be a possibility for him to be placed with sister or more likely suitable placement. This then will then make him not only eligible for ILP services but also AB12.…

She has received a grant by her social worker to attend counseling for awhile. She has no family to depend on due to her parents being alcoholics and suffering from mental illness.
