Google and Apple Know Where You are, Maybe
GOOGLE AND APPLE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, MAYBE
1. I only have one location-based application on my smartphone. The only reason I have that one is because that I receive discounts from a restaurant that I frequent near work. It sense emails to me often that I do not use and view as spam. I tent to be a per son that would rather initiate contact than be contacted for every detail separately.
2. To be honest, I never read the policies that are presented. I am actually quite informed because of projects and policies through my employment of what should be included within these policies. If something ends up not compliant with local and federal low, it tends to be bad on the company that produces those policies. I don’t believe many people actually read those documents, which if they did, could probably hold ground in their privacy arguments. A lot of the time, a company that in fact does use your information, explicitly defines the use within the polies that the consumer must agree to. Social networking through websites and email has to be tracked anyway, so why wouldn’t a company that is forced legally to retain that information not use it to their advantage?
3. GPS and OnStar systems have been proven to be extremely helpful in emergency situations. If the company actually only used their capabilities for that unless otherwise authorized, I feel that these are great technological advancements within society. A lot of companies like this do, however, take advantage and overwhelm consumers’ with advertising measures through those outlets.
4. I am an avid user of resources to be able to ‘track’ what my children have been up to. I feel that a parent should use all the available resources to understand their children’s curiosities and be able to address them appropriately with ample knowledge.
