Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre was constructed with lumber stolen from another theatre after a lease dispute. William Shakespeare was part owner, actor, and play write for the Globe. The area was surrounded by market stalls offering food, drink, and merchandise surrounded the area. The place had a bawdy festival like atmosphere. Commoners and nobles alike arrived early to enjoy the atmosphere. Actors performed short previews outside on the green. The theatre held 1500 people while another 1500 could crowd in the courtyard. Above the main entrance of the theatre the words “The Whole World is a Playhouse” are inscribed. There were no bathrooms on site. The 20-sided structure had an open-air central pit, which the 5ft high stage

    I enjoyed a lot of Shakespeare plays from the beginning until now. I never miss any of it because all of the play are so nice and of course I can not miss this play also. This morning people hang on a big red sheet on the theater which mean today people would present new play. The play was so nice, amazing. Let me tell you about the play, the theater. This morning, I saw the theater company settles into the Globe Theater, on the banks of the River Thames. The Globe was a three-story wooden structure with an open-air courtyard in the center. Actors performed on a raised platform stage within the courtyard. The theater could hold as many as three thousand spectators, many of whom stood in the part of the courtyard near the stage known as the out, These customers, call groundlings, paid the lowest admission charge, usually just a penny. Richer theatergoers like me had to pay more and sat in the partially enclosed galleries, or inner balconies, which surrounded most of the courtyard. Me and other audiences became emotionally involved in performances, openly showing our pleasure or our disappointment. We cheered, booed, hissed, and sometimes threw rotten vegetables. It’s so funny you know. We applauded agile sword fighting and dramatic sound effects such as blares of trumpets, drum rolls, and claps of thunder.…

    The Globe was built in 1599 using timber from an earlier theatre, The Theatre, which had been built by Richard Burbage's father, James Burbage, in Shoreditch in 1576. The Burbages originally had a 21-year lease of the site on which The Theatre was built but owned the building outright. However, the landlord, Giles Allen, claimed that the building had become his with the expiry of the lease. On 28 December 1598, while Allen was celebrating Christmas at his country home, carpenter Peter Street, supported by the players and their friends, dismantled The Theatre beam by beam and transported it to Street's waterfront warehouse near Bridewell. With the onset of more favourable weather in the following spring, the material was ferried over the Thames to reconstruct it as The Globe on some marshy gardens to the south of Maiden Lane, Southwark. While only a hundred yards from the congested shore of the Thames, the piece of land was situated close by an area of farmland and open fields. It was poorly drained and, notwithstanding its distance from the river, was liable to flooding at times of particularly high tide; a bank of raised earth with timber revetments had to be created to carry the building above the flood level. The new theatre was larger than the building it replaced, with the older timbers being reused as part of the new structure; the Globe was not merely the old Theatre newly set up at Bankside.
