Global Business Management
Global business management
I have the ambition to achieve positive results in life. Since I arrived in the United States of America in 1997 my goal was to learn the language and earn a college degree in business management. This country has so much to offer especially if a person has the desire, dedication and passion to succeed. I was fortunate that while I was going to school to earn my associates degree, I started working for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and one year later I was going through its Corporate Management Trainee program. I was then extremely focused on my job responsibilities, therefore, I had no choice but to put a hold on my education. Today, I believe I have the opportunity to return to school and fulfill my initial dream and earn my B.S. Degree in Global Business. The aim of this paper is to emphasize, why I chose global business management as a major, how it will impact my life personally and educationally, and how I will benefit from this degree to achieve my future goals.
I have chosen global business management as a college degree because it brings an incredible array of opportunities and challenges. I believe this degree will most definitely enhance my capabilities and skills to face the business world. Few other reasons are, financially, I am being sponsored through my employer, Philip Morris USA, which made this transition a little bit easier and it gave me the motivation to come back and earn the degree. In addition, global business gives me the opportunity to learn international business relations, policies, laws and standards which I am extremely passionate about. I consider myself a more mature and prepared man to juggle and manage life responsibilities.
“Today companies are globalized internally and externally with clients and suppliers. In order to be successful in the business world I will need a comprehensive knowledge of global markets, diverse cultures and companies. Business competition used to come from the firm

The dearth of globally literate undergraduates prepared to meet the demands of the new global marketplace is worrisome. Even in traditionally domestic industries—retailing, banking, consumer products, or insurance—globalization pressures will require cross-border relationships. In the face of these new realities, and the fact that geography and technology are no longer hindrances, businesses are pushing for access to individuals who demonstrate global knowledge and strong intercultural communications skills. Those future managers who are able to demonstrate global knowledge and cultural competence will have a distinct advantage in advancing their own professional goals and will become important voices in any organization conducting business in the world’s economy.…
