George W. Bush Speech 9/11
On the date of September 11, 2001, an unexpected tragedy affected the whole nation, but our President George W. Bush helped our nation sustain a peaceful mood with his motivational speech and powerful use of bible verses. “The nation is strong” this statement made by Mr. Bush emphasizes that we all are one nation and in order to keep one another unified we must share each other’s pain as citizens of the U.S. To be honest George W. Bush has showed all of us normal Americans that he is more than just a President, He is a human being, that he has worries and fears just as we everyday citizens do. Another statement that came about was “Financial constitution remains strong” This statement lets all of America know that even though we have been hit by the enemy, we still are strong financially. I believe that GWB letting us Americans know that we are financially ok made a few citizens more confident that we will succeed, because we still have money to care for the people who have been harmed the most and lost loved ones. On September 11, 2001, America felt its vulnerability even to threats that gather on the other side of the earth, GWB has created a phenomenal speech that has become a very memorable part of American history, I like the speech and from my perspective I think many Americans who did not have faith in GWB before the tragedy gained respect for him. We as a people have to stick together as a nation “Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we will fear no evil for you are with us” (Psalm 23; 4) this verse was stated by GWB, He got a lot of respect from the Christians in America. In conclusion, From my perspective I believe the quote “God bless America” because I am a Christian and I know that god is our savior, GWB had a speech that changed history, Just as Martin Luther King Jr. and other great motivational speakers, I love America we remain

Parts of the world were already involved in World War II, but America wanted to stay neutral and out of the war. President Franklin Roosevelt, the following night, spoke to the American people. Right off the bat he stated, "Yesterday, December 7, 1941-a date which will live in infamy"(Roosevelt 449). From this line the American people realized that we as a nation would not take this standing down and in fact that we were heading for war. On Tuesday September 11, 2001, New York City and Washington D.C. were attacked by terrorists from an unknown organization. Once again the surprise attacks shocked Americans into disbelief and sadness. At this time the world was in a relative state of peace. The untested President George W. Bush made his speech to the American people that same night. In President Bush's speech he mentions, "None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world." Remembering this day also and defending our freedom through war.…

9/11/01 has shaped America into what it is today. The terrible tragedy that has made Americans realize how wonderful of a country that we are living into day. Some may disagree and say that the government is going down hill, and that the people in office are going to ruin this country, but they have nothing to complain about because the are allowed to speak their mind in the US, unlike in many other countries. America is blessed to have so many freedoms to be able to be yourself, and not have to live in fear. After interviewing two people from our community, Craig Johnson and Janine Knutson, it is easy to see that 9/11 has impacted their lives in an immense way. Both of them had same idea that they didn’t realize how vulnerable that they had been left to be. I had talked to both of them separately, and they had different reaction when about what happened, but came to the same…

Americans became closer, more spiritual, less materialistic, but only for a while. In spite of terror and grief, Americans with utmost hope and compassion helped the person in need. They prayed together and stood together. The attacks of September 11 have made some people feel insecure, particularly the ones who lost their loved ones. Appreciation, gratitude, and support to the fire fighters, the army, and to the people who protect the country have increased.[Ostroushko] Even the pop songs in TV stopped for few days. Patriotic albums were released, such as “The Rising” by Springsteen and “Freedom” by Paul McCartney. People who were obsessed with who is at the top of music charts and new releases got interested in news and the world around them. Also, the blood donation rapidly increased following the attacks, showing the feeling of sympathy felt by Americans.[Glynn] For the most part, it was an awakening for these people; September 11 showed that, for the first time in history, the American homeland is actually vulnerable to a deadly foreign enemy. Americans were so scared, that they seem to think that they saw mysterious images from the smoke of the falling twin towers such as a face of the devil.[Dolfman] As a result, Americans no longer take freedom for granted after September 11. Although these may seem like temporary changes, lasting changes did occur in the nation’s economy and security system.…

In Pericles “Funeral Oration” he ends the speech with “And now, when you have mourned for your dear ones, you must depart.” They must depart from the bad that has come from this war and look at the good. This is the same for George W. Bush’s address to the nation. He ends his speech with, “And light shines in the darkness. And the darkness will not overcome it.” This talks about America looking into the light/good no matter how dark/bad things are because the good will always outshine the bad in the…

“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy”, a quote that almost every American is familiar with. On December 8th, 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D Roosevelt asked to declare war against Japan. The country had been divided on putting ourselves in the war in Europe and Asia, because “it was not our concern”. Yet, after President Roosevelt’s, the country immediately changed their minds, and were all for justice for us Americans. The speech was convincing because of strong emotional appeals, extraordinary organization, and the establishment of character.…

He also stated, “America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining,” (Address to the Nation on the Terrorist Attacks). This statement was one of the strongest in the speech. It gave America the reason for being attacked but reassured the people that it would not change anything and they should still be proud of being the, “brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the…

America is a tight-knit community, its citizens are always ready to stand up for their country during difficult times. Through many difficult times, the citizens are always there for our country, and as one people, they persevere and always come together. Our community is no different from any other, there are arguments, there are different views on many topics, as Barack Obama says “ But when all is said and done, we will come together as one people and pledge our allegiance” (1). In times of crisis and peril, the citizens of America unite. A prime example of this sadly is one of the most devastating things to happen to America, 9/11. When the first hijacked plane crashed into the North tower, people were confused and scared. When the second hit, the public realized it wasn't an accident.…

The evidence that we have is that most countries believe we do too much meddling in situations that doesn’t even involve us. A lot of American feel like we put our noses into so many things that we shouldn’t. The thought of a terrorist attack seemed like something that happens only in third world, war torn countries. The terrorist attacks on American soil that day made the idea of a terrorist attack very real. September 11, 2001 not only made average citizens think about the threat of terrorist attacks but the American government as well.
