Benjamin Bush 9/11 Speech Analysis

Does Bush use Ethos , pathos , and logos in his address to the Nation on 9/11/01? He does more than you might think He uses ethos when he is trying to convince you he is a trustworthy person . He uses pathos to make you to start feeling and stop thinking. He uses logos to appeal to your logical side. In the opening paragraph of Bush’s address he uses pathos the most and he does very effectively. A great example is when he put together the words “victims”,”moms and dads”, and “friends and neighbors”. He also uses the phrases “mass murders” and ‘attack” to make you feel scared. His creative usage of “our” as a pathos and ethos saying it 5 times makes us think that he is apart of the people and he lost apart of him too that day like
By using the word “I” in front of a greater number of people shows that he is a leader and implying that he is a good and trustworthy person. He also uses logos to his advantage in this piece as well. By saying that we would get through this, everything will be ok, and a thanks to the people who came to help. In his sixth paragraph in his address to the Nation he uses ethos the most and also very efectivly. He does this by quoting the verses Psalm 23.You might not think it s a big deal but to a person who belives in Christ by him quoting the Bible. It goes a long way in their eyes.He also gets his audience to stop thinking and start feeling really emotional by talking about the little kids that have lost their moms or dads and that their worlds that have been flipped upside down. In Bush’s conclusion to the Nations address he uses logos in the quote “America has stood down enemies before, and will do so this time.”He gets use to start thinking logically about how many wars and battles the Nation has gone through and this one is as bad. Also that we have been through worse and we are still the greatest nation there ever was. He says “all americans from every walk of life” this gets us the audience to feel like we can get through this as
