Geographicalcalc Plus Assignment
When using the NutritionCalc Plus program, I used a made up weight because my BMI is higher than the assignment required. I used 5’6 ft for height (which is accurate) and I used 140lbs for weight. This made my BMI a value of 22.6. In reality, I actually weigh 188lbs. My meal and food choices are affected by work, friends, family, and school and also with my weight gain. Work and school go hand in hand with my poor eating habits. I am so busy throughout the week, I am unable to prepare meals the night before for work. Also, when I leave work and head to school I have minimal time and get very hungry. I always have to stop at a fast food restaurant. If I am hungry when I am in class, then during our break I get something out of the machine. Which

Americans and individuals from around the world are suffering from being overweight or obese. There are many health issues associated with being obese, and the more a person weighs, the easier these health risks can develop. The terms "obesity" refers to a person’s weight when it is greater than it needs to be for a certain height or a person’s body mass index (BMI). BMI is figured out by using a mathematical formula by using your height and weight.…

My protein target was 46 grams, and the first and third day shows that I went over what I was supposed to eat, but the second day I was under the target amount. My lipid target was between 20%-35%, and again the first and third day indicates that I went over the target amount. The second day shows that I was in the range for the amount of lipids needed. Since my carbohydrates and proteins were outside of the range, I probably would have removed the five pieces of chicken strips, the five chocolate chip cookies, the four macaroon…

I think when you are underweight, overweight, or obeist, it could be enviornmental and or biological charcteristics. I also feel your enviornment play a big part because you played sports and had a keep fit. I dont think you suffer from anorexia nervosa or bulium. You have not mention about not wanting to eat or vomitting your food( as stated on p.138). My opinion is that your past lifestyle and enviornmental factors contribute and your…

At 6 '0" and approximately 210 lbs with a BMI (body mass index) of 28 I am considered overweight and very close to being obese according to the website weight-loss.emedtv.com. I am positive that my current and very poor fitness and nutritional habits are the main cause of my depleting health status as well as my current overweight status. Asking me to explain my current fitness and nutritional habits is basically superfluous. My current fitness habit includes nothing more than the occasional golf or bowling outing, and it does not happen more than once every 2-3 months. My current nutritional habits are just as bad if not worse. Typically I only eat once or twice a day and normally they are very large portions of generally unhealthy foods. For example this past Thursday I managed to eat two medium pizzas from Pizza Hut in one sitting and on Saturday I ate two foot long sandwiches from Subway within about 40 minutes. My fitness and nutritional habits have been the same for years and I know that they are the reason that I am so close to being considered obese. There are a number of health risks associated with obesity. According to WebMD.com "Obesity is not just a cosmetic problem, it 's a health hazard. Someone who is 40% overweight is twice as likely to die prematurely as is an average-weight person. This is because obesity has been linked to several serious medical conditions". Some of the health risks that are associated with obesity include: Heart disease and stroke, High blood pressure, Diabetes, Cancer, Gallbladder disease and gallstones, Osteoarthritis, and Breathing problems, such as asthma. (WebMD.com).…

Up until now my diet has consisted of whatever and how much of whatever I chose to eat. I have never paid attention to calories, nutritional facts, or the size of portions. I have always just eaten what I wanted to eat until I had felt like I had had enough. Although I struggle with my weight, I have never been considered “fat” by those around me. My height is 5 feet 4 inches and my weight is 175 pounds. When I enter this information into a BMI calculator it gives me the body mass index of 30 which is considered moderately obese. Just hearing the word obese gives me a horrible feeling and makes me want to cry. I have never considered myself obese. However, at the same time I am constantly disgusted with my body.…

“Hello group – My name is Heather Zearfoss and we will start today’s session with just a few quick key points on the effect of food on our lives. I am going to try and keep this as simple as possible so that everyone understands why exactly you are even hungry and why your body needs food. This will be important in understanding the role of it in your own life. First, let me start off by saying, everyone looks at food differently; however, many of you do not know why you may feel the way you do. Does anyone’s tummy ever rumble? It’s when you get very hungry and tummy starts making noises? That is actually your body’s way of telling you, EAT! Your poor tummy needs to be filled. There is a part in your brain that is sending signals to your belly to say, “FEED ME!” You want to eat throughout the day because as time goes on, your body is digesting the food and its constantly moving through the body. There are also many other reasons that you eat or don’t eat. Some people have emotional ties to eating, which means they may to eat to feel better. They may eat because they are happy, sad, bored, for comfort, honestly, any emotion can trigger you to eat. Another reason some individuals may be affected when it comes to food is because of society. Society really plays a role in the way that an individual can feel about themselves. We look at actress and actors in movies, on tv, in magazines and that may play a role in how we perceive “we” should look. A young girl thinks she may need to be stick thin size 0 if she is ever going to be perceived as beautiful and that is simply not true – beauty has no size. The peer pressure to not eat may affect someone also. If no one at lunch is eating, one may question…

During my time in UMass, my eating habits were bad, I would often eat foods high in cholesterol and fats, such as bacon and fries. Within 2-3 months, I had gained about 5 pounds. As a teenager up until the age of 23 I have always been able to maintain a weight of around 135 pounds, even after I had my daughter at the age of 22. Right before I turned 24, in less than 6 months I had worked at three jobs, two of which I gotten laid off and the third I left due to the hours that I was required to work. During that time, my stress level had increased tremendously and I went on an eating binge, and stayed up late playing video games and not getting enough sleep. Well I started to see myself gaining weight, I told myself that I was not happy with the way I looked and I was going to do something about it, I joined Bally’s Fitness. That did not last very long, I was going to the gym two times a week for at least 2 months and did not see much of a change so I gave up going and just decided to start eating right, that helped a bit, I was doing ok I told myself and then shortly after that I got divorced and the stress from all the consequences of getting divorced made me loose a lot of weight, which was great but I lost it in an unhealthy way. I was able to keep the weight off, until I got involved in a relationship which after a couple of years went downhill and I became very depressed, which led to another eating binge and the weight gain came back in no time. With the positive influence from friends I was able to join a group at work in which we walked 3 times a day, 15 mins for both our morning and afternoon break and about 20 -25 mins during our lunch, we did this everyday we were at work. You are probably wondering what was the purpose behind this first paragraph? I just wanted to give you a bit of my background with my challenges due to my weight.…

I think I could do better with eating meals/snacks consistently throughout the day, especially on the weekend. For example, on the first day of my food log, I went six hours in between my first two meals without eating and didn’t eat anything after 5:00 even though I went to bed around 10:30. Most of my calories are eaten in the middle part of my day and I don’t usually eat anything after dinner, which results in a long period of time without eating. My energy is fairly consistent throughout the day except for in the morning. According to my supertracker, I am under the appropriate number of calories for meals and snacks.…
