How exhausting is it for a woman to walk in the same place of business as a man with the same job position, and still receive less pay? What a very exhausting feeling! The difference between the amounts of money paid to women and men, often for doing the same work is titled, the “Gender Wage Gap.” I chose this topic because I am a woman, and the thought of a man receiving higher pay than me for the same job is a very difficult thought to have. I believe that understanding the gender wage gap is very important to society as a whole. Equality for women is a perquisite for society as a whole. There has been a change in the gender wage gap since the Equal Pay Act of 1963, it is that the wage between women and men have decreased significantly. Although, the gender wage gap have decreased, there is still a significant wage gap that both women and men hold in the characteristics of their job positions. In the latest years of 1970’s, the wages between both women and men arose by 70% percent by the 1990. By the late 1990’s the gender pay arose by more than 75%. Within changes in the gender wage gap, the gap has been reduced due to younger women, and also women who are married with younger children. The data permitted shows the gender pay rising from 57% percent to 68% in the year of 1996. In difference, women who …show more content…
There wasn’t many statements and responses on the survey following the topic other than a few. The survey statement that really stood out to me was that, “Men and women should be paid equally for the same jobs.” There were 4 people who strongly disagreed, 1 person who disagreed, 3 people were neutral, 42 people agreed, and 130 out of 180 people strongly agreed that women should be equally paid for the same job as men. There was a 4.63 average as well, and it shows that the statement had the highest rating average. I strongly agree as well; women should be paid equally for the same
