In India, discriminatory attitude towards men and women have existed for generations and affect the lives of both genders. Although the constitution of India has granted men and women equal rights, gender disparity still remains.There is specific research on gender discrimination mostly in favour of men over women. Due to a lack of objective research on gender discrimination against men, it is perceived that it is only women who are suffering. The research often conducted is selectively sampled, where men are left out of the picture.[1] Women are perceived to be disadvantaged at work, and conclusions are drawn that their capabilities are often underestimated.[2]
Infancy to Childhood

Both women and men are important for reproduction. The cultural construct of Indian society which reinforces gender bias against men and women, with varying degrees and variable contexts against the opposite sex,[3]has led to the continuation of India’s strong preference for male children. Female infanticide, a sex-selective abortion, is adopted and strongly reflects the low status of Indian women. Census 2011 shows decline of girl population (as a percentage to total population) under the age of seven, with activists estimating that eight million female fetuses may have been aborted in the past decade.[4] The 2005 census shows infant mortality figures for females and males are 61 and 56, respectively, out of 1000 live births,[5]with females more likely to be aborted than males due to biased attitudes.A decline in the child sex ratio(0-6 years) was observed with India’s 2011 census reporting that it stands at 914 females against 1,000 males, dropping from 927 in 2001 - the lowest since India’s independence.[6]The demand for sons among wealthy parents is being satisfied by the medical community through the provision of illegal service of fetal sex-determination and sex-selective abortion.     The majority of parents claim to select gender solely for the reason of sex linked illnesses. Although this might be true in some countries, others are abusing this knowledge to select gender for non-medical reasons. For instance, in countries such as China, where men carry the ancestral line, the families prefer boys instead of girls. Girl fetuses are often aborted after finding out the sex through an ultra sound. Yet, with the newer technology of IVF and PGD, it permits an easier way of gender selection. Dr. Nisker, a PGD pioneer, presumed that sex selection or PGD would be used mostly by infertile couples. He states, “Fifty-eight percent of the calls were from fertile couples.     Today, I would like to tell about a racial discrimination which happened when I was studying at high school of “Computer Technologies”. I personally witnessed that discrimination. The situation was between the teacher and the students. The teacher, who was a white female of Uzbek origin, behaved very differently towards her white students and the two black Egyptians. She was unjust towards her black Egyptian students.A white Uzbek student always arrived late, put her books down on table and left the classroom whenever she wanted. Besides, even if she arrived late and she was marked present. This happened on a regular basis and the student was always marked present. The discrimination occurred when, one day, two black Egyptian students had to leave 5 minutes before the end of class. They were permitted to leave but were marked absent. Compared to the white student, they had spent much more time in class and they had only missed 5 minutes, whereas the white student had spent merely 5 minutes in the class and she was the one who was marked present. After that, I spoke up to defend the black Egyptians, unfortunately I was suspended for talking back at the teacher. Discrimination is often defended but is suppressed by the higher authorities who are in the position to do so. These voices stay, most of the time, unheard. This kind of racist attitude, especially coming from one of the heads of an institution, can truly penalize the student. It does not only falls under the category of racist discrimination but also of segregation. By favoring one student, the teacher is removing the chances for the other students to succeed. The record of the black Egyptian students is scared due to the absences marked, while, on the other hand, the white student has a clean record.…
