With that being said, I feel if Sam would have taken the time to identify the problem and then communicated the situation with clarity the shutdown would have been avoided. In Paul’s case being thrown into a situation without a full understanding of what the problem is. Paul couldn’t be and effective listener, because he could not concentrate on what Sam wanted him to do. Paul was pulled in the middle of job he was trying to accomplish and Sam wanted him to stop what he was doing and fix another problem, so Paul’s mind was in between jobs and could not focus on what was asked of him. Another reason Paul couldn’t be an active listener is because he was the new supervisor in the division and didn’t have prior knowledge of how Sam’s work and supervision experiences were. I think if Paul had have prior knowledge of Sam’s background and experiences he would have known Sam’s expectations of how to handle the situation. This way, Paul would have increased the likelihood of what Sam was asking and intended. Paul however did repeat what his directions were, with hope for some clarification and/or direction, but accepted the decision and response then went about accomplishing his…
This also causes problems within the company financially. Last year the division failed to meet the target numbers and profit margins dropped. So Mr. West is faced with what to use the money in the budget for or even if there is enough money in the budget to start the new idea or even update the equipment. With not being profitable last year Mr. West needs a profitable year or it might hurt his long term potential for advancements within the company. Another problem is that if Mr. Spinks does not get the money to start is new idea then he might leave the company. He is known to leave a company if he does not get his way. Plus if he leaves Mr. West is in the position to find a new director during a no profit year.…

Modeling is another way to empower people. Hoffman didn’t demonstrate the correct behavior that Ruth should follow. Without the proper modeling, Ruth couldn’t presume that the task could be done, it is within her capabilities and success is possible. As Hoffman worked at the main office and Ruth worked at a branch, it wasn’t possible for Huffman to show her how to accomplish work or to frequently demonstrate success. Hoffman should have made it possible for Ruth to be able to communicate with other successful branch manager who could have served as a role model.…
Ask why he left the group when Sandra came in and why he didn 't want to join them for lunch. You have to know all the members of your team if you are going to be a successful leader. In the beginning she should have stated the goal clearly and then ensured that everyone knew what was expected of them. If she saw that Mike was missing meetings then she needed to pull him off to the side to find out why and if possible work the meetings around Mike 's schedule if that is going to benefit the group as a whole. The whole thing with all the notes would have stopped unless Mike was going to work and couldn 't make the meetings. Maybe Mike gave her the notes to read so he wouldn 't look or sound stupid if the rest of the group thinks his ideas are bad. This poses a thought that maybe Michael never found out how good his ideas really were. Christine said that Mike came up with really good ideas but does he know that maybe he sees them as laughing at him and his stupid ideas which ties right back in to Social…

This paper is a literacy memoir about reading in my life. It shows how I went from being a “good” reader to a not so good reader, and how one soccer practice made me look at it from a different view. This paper is very different than any other writing because it is in first person. I have not done a paper in first person in many years, but it was nice to be able to write something about that is about your own life. Every paper that we have done in class has been in third person. It was challenging to make this on in first person. I liked that I could write about an event in my life. However, I was not really sure of how it was going to turn out.…
Marlee tried very hard to come up with something that can benefit both parties in the long term. In response to the other party’s request to lower the price, Marlee asked if they possess anything that we can invest in, so that we can cooperate in a long run. I really appreciated her effort to be more creative. However, her statement sounded unpractical to me; I just felt that it was not the right time to bring “future cooperation” on the table when we have not settled down on anything. If I were the other party, I would have felt being offended since Marlee’s statement of “investing on us” sounded like she wanted to exploit on my MBA degree and knowledge.…
I felt nervous to advocate for Danielle due to fear of being outcast by staff. Sara's busy new job position deterred me from approaching her; I did not want to waste her time. I felt concerned about turning the supervisor against the boys club and ruining the friendly dynamic of CC staff. I knew James depended on his job to support his family: if I told Sara would he get fired?…
Unfortunately, not every member of the management team was buying into the philosophy. After the meeting, a few members decided to go out to lunch together where some began speaking out against Schwartz and his belief that technology held the answer to many managerial issues.…
The first thing that Michael Breyer should have done was show her more respect than he did. He also should have realized that she was an asset to the company with tremendous vision, a great work ethic, and was vastly knowledgeable to the inner workings of the industry. The other top executives knew that she was more than qualified to become partner, but said nothing when she was constantly berated by Breyer in company meetings. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is stand up for someone; especially when it contradicts the beliefs of important figures within the company such…
Many physical changes associated with aging can affect productivity. Those that have been investigated include decreased cardiorespiratory functioning, reduced muscle strength and sensory deterioration. A decrease in cardiorespiratory functioning often leads to increased fatigue, according to a 1995 study. This can reduce productivity in older workers, who may be relegated to more physically demanding tasks if they lack technical skills for more cognitive tasks.…
