Gay And Lesbian Social Work Essay

The role of the social workers in the community working for the alliance of gay and lesbian youth. This essay will explain why there is a need for social workers in the gay and lesbian community. The community through the years has expanded to the bisexual and transgender community. The idea is not to group individuals, however to sustain and stabilize the gay and lesbian community it had to be done. The breakthrough may have begun in President Clinton’s era with a gentleman’s compromise of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” which open a lot of doors with the military. Now moving on to President Obama’s era the gay and lesbian community has come full circle. The right to marry was a big step. Love of one another is a major portion, but the legal aspect is even more. Gay and lesbians no longer have to fight in courts with families over property of their loved ones. Everything is now legal.
