I have chosen a commercial from Nike, the international sport brand. The main characters in the commercial are Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy. They both are professional golf player. The commercial mainly talks about how dream come true. Rory saw Tiger Woods playing golf in a competition, and realize he loves golf too, which has become his habit. Tiger woods became his role model, a dream who can be following. So, he starts playing golf since small and join different kinds of competition and no matter what the weather was, he will keep practicing golf. Finally, he joined the League being professional, playing against his role model in the same field.…
This ad has a heavy emphasis on achieving and striving for greatness and links achieving and striving for greatness with the consumption of Gatorade. This commercial features prominent athletes across a wide range of sports. They include, Eli Manning, David Tyree, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Garnett, Abby Wambach, Serena Williams, LaDanian Tomlinson, Torah Bright, Jeff Gordon and Michael Jordan. The visual techniques are very prominent throughout this advert. Quick cuts between athletes and other sports create a quick flow to the ad. As well after every two or three athletes shown a Gatorade bottle is slammed onto a table, each bottle reading something different. Quotes such as “no excuses’ or “bring it on”. This helps the viewer to link the greatness and accomplishments of the athletes to the fact that they drink Gatorade. Cultural context plays an important role in this ad. It is assumed that the viewer has a reasonably understanding of sports in the US. In order to understand certain components of the ad, for example the helmet catch by David Tyree in super bowl 42 or that Michael Jordan is jumping in the air because he had hit a game winner in the NBA finals against the Jazz. However, this advert doesn’t just include highly decorated athletes it also includes unknown average everyday athletes such as skaters, street ballers, wheel chair basketball players and recreational soccer players. Gatorade…
In this advertisement, it shows many different professional athletes such as Dwight Howard and Peyton Manning drinking gatorade products to stay hydrated. This is an example of ethos appeal because they are all well respected athletes in their specific sports, so many people trust that if these athletes trust these products to work for them then it could probably help them stay hydrated and maybe even become better athletes or all stars like Peyton and Dwight. It appeals to people who trust Gatorade and different athletic drinks. However, it does not appeal to people who believe that it does not help your athletic ability at all but just increases their sugar levels.…
He already has many commercials with Gatorade, as well as Dannon Oikos, Bose and others. These commercials greatly emphasize him and his brand. Advertisers and Sports Marketers are already claiming that Cam will become the Michael Jordan of the NFL, a superstar personality who dominates on the field and off the field. (McCarthy, 2016) Cam is the perfect pitchman for media and sponsors because he is young and very outspoken and he is not afraid to say what he feels. Media and sponsors love that because he will always be in the news and in turn, boosting their brands. According to McCarthy, sponsors view him as a new pitchman who can reach kids and consumers in a country that is projected to be majority non-white by 2050. (McCarthy, 2016) On the other hand, people may ask, “Is Cam too polarizing?” or “What about his celebrations?” or “What about his comments on race?” Advertisers tend to be fascinated by these types of behaviors because he will frequently be portrayed in the media and he will make it…
The three levels of Figueroa’s Framework covered in this presentation, individual, interpersonal and institutional, have successfully shown the factors affecting and enabling my participation and perception of basketball. My enjoyment and participation in basketball can be increased by maximising focus on basketball as a sport, showing more media coverage of basketball and changing the coach or the methods the coach is using to encourage myself and others to consider basketball as a potential sporting…
My hypothesis is if sport drinks are consumed, then the reaction rate will improve. Sport drinks provide individuals with the required amount of water, carbohydrates and electrolytes (sodium and potassium) which is lost in sweat while exercising. Maintaining adequate electrolyte levels will enable better cell function, which is needed for muscle endurance, among other bodily capabilities when exercising. On the other end Glucose is an important source of energy, and water balance is required to maintain blood pressure and proper tissue functions. Even though water contains the required amounts of sodium and potassium, water…
The movie Hoop Dreams traced a poor young talented African American named Arthur Agee from grade eight to college. Arthur hoped to play professional basketball in the future to help his family to escape poverty. Despite the fact that his family background and the neighborhood he lived in, disadvantaged him to pursue his goal in many ways. Firstly, Arthur is determined to play professional basketball, in order to help out his family. Thirdly, his education value hoping that playing basketball could lead him to a college education. For Author playing basketball, it is not only a fun activity for him, but it also acted as a tool to…
This advertisement is representing the enthusiasm of Chinese love for the Air Jordan shoes. There are thousands of crazy fans trying to chase, catch, and touch Michael Jordan and his shoes. Chinese basketball fans are inconceivable. The crowd climbs onto each other’s shoulder, and push each other around. They are so crazy about Michael Jordan and his shoes. I remembered when I was in high school some of my high schoolmates loved Jordan sneakers. However, they did not have enough money to buy a pair of Air Jordan basketball shoes. For them, the Air Jordan basketball shoes were the biggest dream at…
Lebron James, who is the so-called next Michael Jordan, and Freddy Adu, the American soccer phenomenon, both have something in common. They are professional athletes and with millions in their pockets with a countless number of endorsement contracts. Whether it is high school athletes skipping college and discontinuing the development of their education for millions of dollars, or teenagers signing contracts with businesses for massive amounts of money, youth sports programs are changing rapidly. However, American high school athletes are not financially, physically, or mentally prepared to tackle and endure the pressures of professional sports.…
The thesis is a vocal point that explains how the chemistry of playing basketball help the body function well. Unfortunately, when people look in the mirror their reflection put them in the state of mind where they do not appreciate what they see. Moreover, that push themselves to be more active. After a few weeks, everyone starts to have those days where if the mentioning of the word “exercise” there will be a thousand excuses of why you should not. However, there are many ways we can be physically active without stress or trying to fit our daily routine with a gym schedule. Therefore, we turn into sports that do not lead into major body injuries like Basketball, tennis, or golf… etc.…
Nike had made great gains with highly successful advertising campaign that positioned the corporation as the champion of girls’ and women’s rights inside and outside of sports. One influential TV spot included images of athletically active girls and women, with the voice-over saying things like, “If you let me play, I’ll be less likely to drop out of school.” (Dworkin and Messner 556)…
The dynamics of beliefs and concepts are so interlinked with a mix of cultures that it is difficult generalize how this generation may perceive a certain thing or a certain commercial. The depiction of heroism in this commercial is though unrealistic but it is in a more generous mode. Another counter argument which is more appealing is the fact that commercials or media lacks the power to overcome rationality because audience knows the difference between entertainment and reality (Wharton, 2013). They know what is being projected as a source of entertainment and what is being projected as a persuasion. The commercials which are persuading involve a more social message rather than depicting high flying…
In this advertisement, we see LeBron James coming with a McDonald’s bag to the basketball court. Dwight Howard, who is already playing basketball, asks him what’s in the bag. Dwight tells him he has a big mac and fries. Dwight asks LeBron to bet his lunch and he agrees to have a slam dunk competition. Dwight won but suddenly Larry Bird appears and takes the McDonald’s bag.…
