GEICO Personal Statement
15) Why are you interested in specifically working for GEICO? I am interested in specifically working for GEICO because they satisfy all of the factors I consider when deciding between different firms. GEICO is a stable company in a stable industry. GEICO is the second largest auto insurer in the United States and offers more than just auto insurance; they provide life insurance, homeowners insurance, and many other types of insurances. I say that GEICO is in a stable industry because as long as people are around, we will always need insurances for a variety of different things.

I also like the positive environment that GEICO provides for its employees. I come from a diverse background so it is nice to see that GEICO also values

These companies will use things such as animals, kids, or places to get you to connect to their product they are trying to get you to buy. The goal of the advertisers is to get their product stuck in your head and feeling the need to have it. Some companies will push an absurd amount of money that you can save by going with their company over their competitors. I understand they use these tactics and they work for the most part, but they can also have negative effects on the viewers as well. When you know about the insurance you already have, and you know what you pay per month or per year, you can weed half of the companies out just because they got over zealous and tried to use a number that when actually looked at is impossible to meet, one Geico commercial advertised they could save you an amount per year that was actually more than I paid a year for the insurance I have. I made the call to Geico and asked them if they would really pay me monthly to have their insurance, I was told they could not help me at this time.…

Geico is a car insurance company which has used several advertising techniques that address many of the fifteen basic appeals, described by Jib Fowles, to gain potential customers (Fowles 1). For instance, the need for affiliation has been catered to through advertising depicting Geico as the best there is. People tend to affiliate themselves with top companies. Emotional appeal is catered to primarily; the premise being to invoke the idea that getting Geico insurance will make you happy. A series of “Happier Than” television advertisements were aired (Geico). Each episode portrays a random scenario, followed by two Bluegrass pickers named Ronny and Jimmy, performing a slapstick routine on a small stage. Each event leads to one picker asking a question along the line of, “How happy are people when they switch to Geico?” at which point the second picker delivers a punch line related to the content of the commercial (Geico). This method utilizes two distinct styles: humor and celebrity (Fowles 11). The approach relies heavily on implying that using Geico can make you as happy as someone else.…

A goal of any company is be effective and efficient in communicating to their target audience. The creative must therefore know and understand who their target audience is. Insurance companies have perhaps the broadest target audience of any product. Who is Geico selling to? As the company’s core service offering is auto insurance, pretty much everyone! Because of this, Geico needs to run a number of different advertisements in order to reach the different groups of people. Geico uses a shotgun approach to hit different demographic groups. Geico’s acceptance and growth had a large part to do with its media coverage. A lot of their money went into advertising. They had to develop something that would grab people’s attention. Often times, companies pay actors or actresses to help promote their product or service. However, Geico doesn’t need to hire professionals to get their point across to their target audience. Instead, they use pre-existing customers to show the benefits of their insurance.…

My experiment worked out the way I thought it would. My predictions were correct. My last prediction is debatable, for it did get bigger and harder. Although, it may not have gotten hard from the salt water. Throughout the experiment, the egg grew smaller and bigger. This was because different substances react differently to the egg. Some substances would go in while others wouldn't. This is an example of how a cell is selectively permeable. In the lab, there were possible sources of error. When we were measuring the circumference of the egg, we used string. Some people may have stretched the string out resulting in a vary of incorrect results. Also, the volume measurements…
