The worst part of being lied to is knowing you weren't worth the truth. In the book The Hobbit, Bilbo has a ring and he doesn’t tell the dwarves about it. I don’t consider it lying at all. On the first hand, he didn’t say anything, and on the second hand, he wasn’t telling any truth or lie. If I was in a situation like this, I would have just kept my mouth shut. I wouldn’t have to say anything. If Bilbo would have told the dwarves about the ring, The dwarves would probably have been very mad. If you’re ever in a situation like this, just keep your mouth…

Kahlil Gibran once said: “Every two souls are absolutely different. In friendship or in love, the two side by side raise hands together to find what one cannot reach alone” (“Quotes about friendship” 4). Just like in The Kite Runner friendship is something needed in life just like Amir and Hassan needed each other. Their friendship just like many other friendships will go through their ups and downs. Firstly, Amir shows some of the negative sides that can happen in a friendship. On the other hand Hassan shows the positive sides of a true friendship. In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, two bestfriends, Amir and Hassan will show the positive and negative characteristics of a true friendship through fighting one another, helping one another but also forgiving one another. Hosseini makes a point that a friendship is never perfect but it is a necessity and with some work put into it, it can be something beautiful.…

All of these characters coexisted in the Middle Earth, (which is the setting used by Tolkien) where they all resided in. At times there was peace between all the races, where they would come together and have great times and laughter; many of them often traded goods with each other. Unfortunately, where there is good there is always bad, while there was fun times between some of the races, there was hatred and wars between others.…

Throughout the novel, we see the main protagonist, Bilbo Baggins, thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield and a wizard named Gandalf the Grey on a quest to retrieve stolen gold from a dragon named Smaug. During this quest, Bilbo, the dwarves and Gandalf almost are eaten by Trolls, almost eaten by giant spiders, and venture through a dark, mysterious black forest, and many. These are all elements of a perilous and long journey and quest, which is a typical convention of the fantasy genre shown in the novel The Hobbit. Early in the novel, leader of the dwarves, Thorin, stated, “We shall soon before the break of day start on our long journey, a journey from which some of us, or perhaps all of us (except our friend and counsellor, the ingenious wizard Gandalf) may never return. It is a solemn moment.” – The Hobbit, 1937, J.RR Tolkien, pg 21. Tolkien has directly included this in the novel to justify the fantasy convention of an adventurous quest in the novel.…

There were frequent pogroms of Jewish people occurring in Eastern Europe and the rise of Nazism in Germany led to the mass extermination of six million Jews. Writers like C.S. Lewis and J.R.R.
