Freedom Writers Project Analysis
I absolutely loved this project and experience overall. We got the idea for this project after seeing the movie, "Freedom Writers". I went with three of my four other teammates to see it for our first paper and when we walked out, the three of us couldn't shut up about how much we loved and were inspired by the movie. On the way back from the movie, we got the idea to do a spin off of the movie for our project. The whole way home from the theater we were coming up with ideas for our upcoming project. When we finally began working on the project, it fell into place fairly well because we were so intrigued with the inspiration we each had. This project brought forward so many new aspects of teaching to my attention and really got me motivated …show more content…
There are some many differences in the education field that it is so hard to attempt to understand and melt everything into one big pot that isn't complicated. This project helped me to realize the obstacles that I will face when entering into the teaching profession. Before this project, I kind of knew there were issues but I didn't really know or understand them. Now, I feel as though I am better educated about the issues in different schools and I know feel I have my own strong opinion about issues whereas before I was in the middle simply because I wasn't aware of most of the major issues. When we were putting this project together, we originally started with a topic on the complete other side of the spectrum. However, as we were all working together, we were able to pull from each other. We really were all passionate about what we were doing and how we each felt. When we first decided on using the "line game" we all got so excited about what we wanted to get across as well as what we can accomplish as teachers. It was hard in the beginning to put together something we all completely agreed on but we eventually landed on even ground and accomplished exactly what we

Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the beginning of my teaching career. My goal is to be sharp, skilled, creative and effective as a teacher and leader so that I can significantly influence the organization and overall culture of my school, other teachers, students, and the community. A necessary attribute of a great teacher should be the desire to seek ways to improve learning for all children. I am committed to learning and developing the knowledge and skills that a great leader needs to make a difference in education. I believe all students can have academic success.…

When I first decided to become an educator, I wanted to serve students reflecting a community similar to my own upbringing. I have seen a number of failed reforms that have been targeted towards inner city communities and the negative impact inflicting lower income communities. Exploring my own identity, ethnicity and background is a huge factor in my preference for minimizing the achievement gap and seeking to elevate myself as a leader to advocate for educational equity against injustices. I was inspired to be a part of the change for my community after I spent a year substituting in both Atlanta Public and Fulton County…

Throughout my writing career, I have observed several aspects with the potential to shape any writer’s success. Among the elements, the most influential of them is the English course in which the student enrolls. Moreover, English courses hold influence over a student’s life in that they have a responsibility to either advance or reduce the writer’s skills. The progress in my writing development began when English II guided me through noticing worth in my writing, finding pride in a strength, and appreciating positive aspects of the course.…

The students’ lives are filled with gangs, crimes, racism, domestic abuse, income inequality, poverty, unfair treatment, and lack of education. With regards to Structural Functionalism, gangs, and education can be understood.…

America is a unique country, founded on the principle that we are endowed with “certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Yet today, through taxes and regulations, government takes half of what each American earns. Government regulates what goods and services entrepreneurs can offer consumers, and restricts consumer freedom to buy many goods from other countries. Politicians currently are trying to restrict or ban what we can smoke, where we can use our cell phones, what we can view on the Internet, and which fattening foods we can eat. How is it that the people of a country dedicated to freedom put up with such restrictions from political elites? Do Americans still value freedom? Americans…

In the beginning no one had an idea on which side we were going to be for the debate on the topic, which I got was Stem Cell Research and after researching both sides and learning the pro and cons about Stem Cell Research. My group was given the pro side, which means that I was not against doing more research on stem cells and against learning how they work. This project showed me that I do not need to know anything about my topic at first. The more I did research on stem cells the more I would understand my topic and the project. This was the first time I had a project where I have learn the material on my own. Also, this was the one of the first real debates I had to do. I feel that this taught me that I have the potential to learn materials on my own. This project made learn skills for success because in college the professors do not babysit you or make sure you do your work.
