Frances Goodrich's The Diary Of Anne Frank

World War Two was the year the Holocaust happened and families of many were put in danger. “The Diary of Anne Frank” is a playwright authored by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. This diary leads to historical events that is portrayed through dialogue and stage directions of these three families who lived in a storage room for about two in a half year.

In further words historical events are played through dialogue. As described by Anne “we’ve had bad news. The people from who miep got our ration books have been arrested. So we have had to cut down on our food.”(p167) Anne explains that there was so little food that couldn’t be provided towards them, because of the situation they had to cut down on the way the food was shared such as giving smaller portions this also provided that they did not want Miep to get in trouble by taking bigger portions of food than the usual that was given towards her. Although they starved for a period of time another problem conflicted was about religion. “Delphi or the oasis, where Jews were allowed….”(p 12). Displays how much has changed over the year, The
“I was to put as many clothes as I could. It would look to suspicious if we walked along carrying suitcases”(p 104) The Franks couldn’t make it obvious that they were going into hiding, if so they have a close chance of getting caught by the natzis. In the diary Anne discusses that in one point of the diary it talked about how Mr. Frank’s business partner knew they were in hiding thus it gave him an opportunity to blackmail them into getting caught. “She breaks off as she hears the sound of a car it breaks squealing as it comes to a sudden stop”(p 185). Fear was rising from one person to the next, Having hope that loud noise was people coming up to tell them that the war had ended but only to see it’s the natzi’s who found them and is ordering them to pack and be taken to a concentration
