If there is a busy schedule between both parents during the day, Fridays off for students will help parents work and not worry about their kids if their kids were to go to a family member's house or sleep over a friend's house. Parents will save money if students go to their family or friends house instead of the parents hiring a baby sitter. A four day school week may come in handy if you have the entire Friday off to schedule appointments with doctors or dentists. If there was a Friday a student was taken out of school to go to the dentist, but the dentist was packed, he would be late to go back to school. Four day school weeks may alter that a little, say on a normal Friday, that the dentist would be full of students, but if there was no school on Friday, then there would be any line to wait in, and no rush to get back to school before school is over. The other upside of having Fridays off is that parents can do errands with out interruptions. If students have Fridays off, they can go to a friend's house so that their parents can run errands without interruption. According to Jami Dow, a mother who moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota ( a district that has a four day school week) three years ago to be closer to her parents, said, "Many families use the extra day to schedule doctor and dentist…

Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school. Not only this, but many teachers easily get behind on either grading or lesson planning, while the school could actually save money when switching to this schedule. By refreshing the way the school schedule has previously been, we can address the issue of exhausted students who don 't truly learn anything, teachers who are overwhelmed with work and the economic questions within America 's schools. Providing both students and teachers with a more equal week of break and school time by having Wednesdays off will make students more willing to attend school, give the teachers time to furnish their lesson plans and give the school a break in costs.…

Having a four day school week would also benefit the teachers too. It would benefit them by giving them more time to correct papers and put grades in the gradebook. That would also mean the teachers would have an extra day to be with their families, instead of staying at home and grading papers so they don’t fall behind on their grades, especially if…

The transition from a five-day a week schedule to a four-day a week schedule will be difficult and detrimental by the fact that existing students will need to adjust to the new schedule after attending five-day school weeks up until this point. According to Schmidt, “Despite reducing the number of instructional days from 172 to 149, MACCRAY students have gained more than 17 hours of instructional time by adding 65 minutes to each instructional day. Because there are fewer days, there are fewer breaks for recess, lunch, and time between classes — making more time for academic pursuits. (Schmidt 3)." However, Schmidt’s claim is invalid because the transition could also backfire because the students will…

Also, they would not have the time to spend time with their families and with themselves in such a short time range. After a long day teaching kids, the teachers' day is still not over. They have to go home and grade papers, make new lesson plans, and still watch their own children as well. With school pushed back to a later hour, the teachers may not have near enough time to spend with their children and prepare for the next day in class. There is still time on the weekends, but the time will still be limited throughout the weekdays.…

First off, you will need to learn how the daily and weekly schedules are set up. For example, some of the most popular schedules are 45-15 days. Which means students will attend school for 45 days and then get 15 days off. Next, other schools schedules can vary slightly in the number of days attending and days off from school. For example, some schools will do 60-20 or 90-30 days. It means that that kids will go to school for 60 days and get 20 days off or go to school for 90 days and get 30 days off. Lastly, more than 3 million students go to year -round school. The author, Grace Chen, from the passage Year Round vs. Traditional schedules in Public Schools states, “That nearly 3 million K-12 students in the U.S. attend a year-round school.” Which means that more students prefer to go to a year-round school than a traditional school. Some people that might not like the schedule change, would be parents. Some parents could think, that this could be the best thing, or the worst thing to happen. Some might not like it because, of the change. Parents don’t usually like change, they genuinely don’t want their children to have it harder on themselves then it already was before. Parent might not also like how the school year would still have nine week quarters, but then followed with three weeks of break. On the other hand, parents might also like it. Why parents might like it would be, that their child would not cause that much trouble around the house, or on the street. It really goes both ways in this situation, and it depends on what kind of parent you talk to.…

Why is our traditional five day week changing to a four day week? Any reason? A four day week would result in extra hours of work, interference with family schedules and much more. In any case what’s the problem with the five day school week? The customary five day school week should stay without any alterations. There are many reasons that support the understanding of having a five day school week instead of changing it into a four day school week. Firstly, people are already used to the five day week and might have to put some changes to their regular habits. Secondly, parents at work would have a very hard time to find a person to take care of their child (babysitter); this would be a big problem for families with no money. In the third reason I speak about the kids interest areas. It would be a loss of time of their practice of their extra-curricular activities that they really enjoy from their choice classes.…
