A Review of Food Matters
We live in an age where documentaries have become a crucial medium for the communication of uncommonly known information. Food Matters gives a no-bullshit account of the perils(风险) of modern food consumption and medication(药物), and tells us what we can do to significantly improve our quality of life and our health. The documentary stars several well-educated Doctors of Medicine with expertise in the study of education. As these specialists provide the data, the viewers become convinced that the price we pay to eat an ordinary American diet may not be worthwhile. Scientific and statistical evidence is provided regarding food production, and this empirical data reveals that routine food production practices result in toxic, nutrient-depleted foods. Harvested foods are placed in mineral-deprived soil and then proceed to be contaminated with pernicious(有害的) substances. So it would seem that once again it is brought to public attention that food corporations provide citizens with deficient food in exchange for more dollars. But this has seemingly become old news, so Food Matters then causes the viewers to question the validity of medicinal practice and their lack thereof in the realm of the healing powers of proper energy supply. As the documentary is largely narrated by practicing doctors, the lack of proper nutritional studies in medical school is discussed. Why is it that these doctors never received training on the health benefits to be gained from healthy eating, they ask. Well, the answer is somewhat predictable; the pharmaceutical industry brings in large amounts of revenue, and so drugs continue to be prescribed without consideration of all-natural therapy and alternative medicine. The prevalence of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and immune system deficiency is unnecessary as they are largely the result of environmental factors and the conditions we put our bodies in. By eating correctly, we enable our body’s own healing mechanism.
