Five Kingdoms Death Weavers Character Analysis
In the book, Five Kingdoms: Death Weavers, Cole can be characterized as loyal and courageous. To start with, Cole can be characterized as loyal. First off, Cole is loyal by trying to figure out how to get his friends from Earth home. Throughout the book and the series, Cole never forgets the kids that came with him when he ended up in the Outskirts. Whenever he meets a powerful character he asks them if they know of anyway they could get him and his friends home. This shows he is loyal because no matter what he goes through, he has his friends foremost on his mind, and how to save them. A second example of Cole’s loyalty is his promise to Mira about finding Destiny. At the beginning of the book, Cole promised Mira that he would do whatever it takes to find …show more content…
For Cole to find the courage to walk past Morgassa, and continue on to the next person he fears would take tremendous courage. Cole encounters several other beings that he fears and that tempt him to touch them, but he keeps on going and makes it out of the hall without giving into his fears. A third example of Cole’s courageousness, is when he jumps into a slipstream after Destiny. This quote helps explain what happened, “Tessa/Destiny never slowed. ‘Tell my sisters I love them!’ She shouted as she sprang into the slipstream… Cole jumped in. The shrill whistling of the slipstream gained the overwhelming fury of a hurricane” (Mull 406-408). A slipstream is a river in the Echolands that echoes enter when they want to move onto the Other, the life after the Echolands. This shows Coles courageousness because to jump into a slipstream means certain death, and he jumped into a slipstream, regardless of his own safety, to rescue someone else. He not only pulled Destiny out of the slipstream, but he also got out

Due to her family’s constant negatively impacted actions, Jeannette grows to mistrust them. One such action happens near the beginning of the book, when the kids are still trusting and loyal to their parents. It was in Battle Mountain while the weather was cold, and the dad figured that to warm up the family was going to go to a hot spot up north. So the family visits the waterhole and starts to swim in it. During that time Jeannette is the only one out of the three kids that could not swim, so Rex takes it upon himself to teach her. Unfortunately, Rex’s method of teaching was unorthodox as well as dangerous. The method involved dragging Jeannette to the middle of the water and prying her loose from him, allowing her to sink underneath while…

Although The Screwtape Letters and The House of the Scorpion are very different stories by different authors, the main characters experience events that lead to growth. The main character, also known as the “patient”, in the Screwtape letters is tempted by an aspiring devil named Wormwood. The patient fights these temptations with the help of some friends especially his girlfriend. Likewise, Matt, the main character in The House of the Scorpion, has his friends Maria, Chacho, and Fidelito to help throughout his story. In both cases, the authors show that friends can help you through many temptations even when you have to oppose people who want you to die.…

A few imperative traits that describe a responsible and mature judge are devotion, integrity, and accuracy. Some say that Danforth is a seemingly intelligent and experienced judge, but does he contain the traits that are desired in every judge? Others may believe that his pride leads him to making irrational decisions in “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller. Danforth likes to think of himself as a fair-minded man, which is not clearly represented throughout the play. He is unwilling to believe the truth and has no integrity.…

Another routine was the ancestor rock. In this routine he carried a rock up a hill caring for it as if it was his ancestors and once he got to the top he had to push it with all his strength as if rolling away his anger. I noticed the importance of these routines to Cole’s daily life when towards the end of the book there was one point where he started to skip some of them. As a result his anger was coming back and he really wasn’t able to control it without the routines. One big factor that made him realize his anger issue was the anger dance that he performed in the book which helped him learn that no person is a totally bad person, people just do bad things because that's all people know how to do. In this case the example would be Cole’s dad the way Cole’s mom told Cole that his dad had carried baggage with him his whole life. He also learned…

The nature of existence in the Kingdom of the Dead is dissimilar to the Christian ideal of heave; the Kingdom of the Dead is a dismal place to be. Odysseus describes them as “shambling, shiftless dead” (p. 251). Existing in the Kingdom of the Dead is not a pleasing affair. People exist in death exactly how they died; the “men of war” are still wearing the bloody armor they died in (p. 250). The dead seem to be able to remember who they are, but they are not able to speak until Odysseus allows them to touch or “approach” the blood Odysseus spilt from the sheep (p. 254). Once they do so, the dead can only speak the truth (p. 254). If Odysseus were to ignore them, they would fade away (p. 254). To reach the dead, Odysseus uses milk and honey,…

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” (H. P. Lovecraft). The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, is set in a controversial religious part of history that uses strict morals and disquietude to install panic of the unknown. In The Crucible, the reader can see that Abigail is a depraved, vengeful, manipulative, evil minded young girl who uses fear and spite to dictate the world around her. Using her vengeful and nasty, unforgiving past of witnessing her parents getting bashed in the head right next to her pillow helped her form a wall to hurt others before they hurt her. To be above everyone else at all times by using her evil mind, malicious words is how she sees success and safety in herself.…
