The first restaurant franchise that came to mind when viewing this discussion board question was one of my favorite, Chick-fil-A. I was surprised at the relatively low cost to start a franchise with Chick-fil-A. According to the website, “For an initial financial commitment of $5,000, selected franchisees (who we call Operators) are granted the rights necessary to operate a franchised Chick-fil-A Restaurant business.” (Chick-fil-A).
I was unable to locate additional information on royalties, construction and other cost to maintain a Chick-fil-A franchise from their website. I did note that they have several events and opportunities to obtain information on franchise opportunities with their corporation. They host several events, such as franchise expos, seminars, and information sessions to provide detailed information on franchise opportunities.
There is an application process to go through in order to be considered as a franchise owner. The information I sought on the website, but that was not available on the website:

• Expected cost

Chesnutt began writing his stories after the popularity that Joel Chandler Harris received through his local-color literature stories of “Uncle Remus”. “The Goophered Grapevine” and “The Passing of Grandison” depicted how dialect speech was an integral part to the stories that were introduced to the readers. Both stories also are frame stories, a literary technique used by Chesnutt in which each story consists of a story within a story. Each frame story has an event that cause the main character of the story to take an action. In “The Passing of Grandison”, Dick made his mind up to free a slave owned by his family due to his desire to impress the girl that he loved. Stereotypes were also a big factor in Chesnutt’s stories. African Americans were still viewed as uneducated and unworthy to be in the same status like the white people. Women were regarded as weak, dependent, emotional, but at the same time they were pure and faithful as well. These were apparent in both stories and “The Wife of His Youth” too. The usage of irony is something that the readers can see a lot in the stories written by Chesnutt. In “The Passing of Grandison”, the master was adamant that Grandison would not run away from slavery when he was brought to other cities by his master’s son, Dick. He believed that Grandison was content and satisfied enough with his current state of his life that it would be impossible for him to flee. And Grandison exactly fulfilled the expectation of his master by being a faithful master, although he was given plenty of chances to run by Dick who desperately wanted him to be freed for the sake of impressing a girl that he was in love with. Overconformity is a serious issue and with the coach telling my son and his teammates to take risks, play while being in pain, and putting your body through this pressure is putting the team through danger. I understand that the coach is trying to get the boys to be better and become successful in football since athletes are expected to play through pain and is one of the reasons why coaches pick certain players. With the coach setting all these requirements towards the children will put the children to think that it is normal to play with injuries, not being exposed to anything but football, could do serious damage to their bodies especially when the children are still young, etc. Not recovering 100% could lead my child to double his chances on not being able to play and not giving his best. The teammates and my son would be expected or possibly think about using painkilling drugs to get out in the games more quickly. I wouldn't want my young son to start depending on drugs at an early age and that could possibly end up using other drugs early into his life. Children will get scared to not tell their coaches or anyone that their seriously hurt and then the injury will eventually get worse and worse. My advice to my son would be to listen to your body, do the best you can, have fun, and improve your skills on the field. I would tell the coach to give the children a break, their only kids playing a youth sport. I agree with Taylor's comment about how the coach's style will transfer into the children's everyday lives. The violence on the field could eventually go off the field as well and can influence the kids that there isn't more than just football. The coach doesn't show that he cares about safety at all and that should be the first priority. Health comes first. Once your recovered from an injury than you can go back on the field and improve.
