Introduction
This report is based on the objectives I have to accomplish during my filed work trip to Dhaal Atoll Rinbudhoo. Dhaal Atoll has a total of 7165 ( seven thousand one hundred and sixty five people ) population of which the island Rinbudhoo occupies the second least population with 526 ( five hundred and twenty six ) people. Out of 526 people, 278 are males and 249 are females. Out of 249 females, 125 are in the age of 15 years to 45 years. There are 35 children who are under 5 years of age, of which 18 are girls and 17 are boys. It is a small ( 16.1 hactors ), clean and peaceful island with kind and co-operative people living there. The island was very much affected by 2004 Tsunami disaster and that is the reason for the less number of people living there now. Because of the devastating Tsunami disaster, half of the population has migrated to Male atoll Thulusdhoo hoping for better services and rest who are living in Rinbudhoo island has decided not leave their home place with a great courage to develop their island. As a result, they have achieved a lot so far. This island has some unique characterists as well . One of which is that this island is famous for gold and silver smith in Maldives. There is a health centre opened on 18th March of 2009 with a total of 4 staffs , an assistant community health officer, an assistant administrative officer, a family health officer and a laborour. The health centre was opened by the president of Maldives, his excellency Mr. Mohamed Nasheed with a great hope of providing services as a first category health centre. But, due to some political reasons and government policies, the health centre is running as a health post. Only thing which was added is a temporary medical officer, who was on leave when we started our field trip work

Within the museum you’re exposed to over 30,000 artifacts and several exhibitions that were primarily set out for individual pieces of African American history. It made me feel like I was taking a closer encounter with history and the importance of the African American culture and life. Every exhibition had its own feel to it, and its own relevance, with each display and individual storyline, made it all the more very special. I think with every exhibition, the intention was to make people feel like they were truly once a part of that time and age. Although, it’s difficult to imagine any more of what lies in the roots of African American history and life, I…

Researchers throughout the world most often conduct practical work in a all natural environment outside their laboratory or office in order to experience in firsthand what it is to live outside the society they have been exposed to all their lives, and integrate into another civilization that imposes cultural traditions and policies that the researcher may have never been imposed to in the past. These types of works or studies that ethnographers conduct are called fieldworks; and they help researchers learn the ways and customs of a certain group or kin outside a society. The researcher’s method of fully understanding the culture of the group of individuals they study is by integrating into their assemblage or in other words living amid them for approximately two years. Cultural Anthropologist such as Malinowski and Lila Abu-Lughod’s, experienced a direct contact with individuals that maintain alive their own culture adopted from past generations of ancestors, by carrying out and conducting the practical work of fieldwork. The works of Malinowski’s ‘“Introduction” from Argonauts of the Western Pacific’ and Lila Abu-Lughod’s “Fieldwork of a Dutiful Daughter,” reflect their experiences and observations of living and interacting among the particular group they closely studied. Even do both of the researchers performed similar fieldwork studies; the works that were written based on their experiences and observations present audiences with two distinct approaches and perspectives to fieldwork and objectivity due to the certain positionality of the researcher in society; causing them to fall in the debate over objectivity and fieldwork that is described in John Monaghan and Peter Just “Social &Cultural Anthropology A Very Short Introduction.”…

When an anthropologist takes under the task of doing fieldwork he or she is taking on an overwhelming amount of obstacles one must overcome in order to record accurate information regarding a specific civilization. He or she must overcome many obstacles such as language, race and culture in order to even start a study on a specific culture. In the films "Shock of the Other" and "Margaret Mead and Samoa" we, as the viewer get to see how these fieldworks are done from a perspective myself, as a student, have never gotten to see before. In both of these films quite "famous" anthropologists the first, Margaret Mead, an American journeyed to the South Pacific territory of Samoa in 1925 to do her fieldwork. The other anthropologist David Maybury-Lewis who was born in Hyderabad, Pakistan in 1929 and immigrated to the United States in 1960 was the primary anthropologist in the film "Shock of the Other" traveled to the Amazon River Basin in order to study the drastically primitive civilizations such as the MaschoPiro who basically remain hidden from the outside world.…

The issue of whether the government should provide free health care in Papua New Guinea has been debated widely in our country recently. It is an important issue because health care has great impact on peoples’ lives in all walks of life. Health is a basis of good life and happiness. Without better health care life would be very difficult when it comes to deal with health related issues and emergencies especially in rural areas and those disadvantage ones in the urban centres. Health is for all meaning everyone must have access to better which is affordable at the lowest price and it should be for all the citizens regardless of their ethnicity, race, wealth, educational qualification or their social status in the communities. The health workers must collaborate with the local communities and other stake holders in order to efficiently deliver the much needed services to the people. This essay will discuss why primary health care is important and emphasize on some of issues that are affecting the distribution and delivery of health care in Papua New Guinea.…

    Visit to a Village

    • 430 Words

Located just few kilometres away from a well-developed district, these two villages are stark contrasts from life as we know it and live. We witnessed the barest minimum necessities that people live with. Neere is more developed than Dhodani by virtue of being easily accessible by road from Panvel. The double edged sword affecting this area is that the farmers who for ages have produced rice which is the main crop have now sold off their land to large real estate companies and have amassed huge wealth. They are basking in the comfort of this richness with no thought attached to what might transpire in the future. While Neere is home to swanky cars and bikes, the basic medical amenities there are a bare minimum. We visited the local primary health care center present there and noticed the lack of many basic requirements. We understood the several gaps that existed in the system after talks with the administration, nurses and local villagers present there. A short distance from Neere, nestled in the lap of the Matheran’s forests, lies the village of Dhodani. This is a small village, seemingly tribal. All the basic facilities here are in a miserable state. Be it roads, electricity, water supply or basic health care , there appears to be a complete unavailability of any resources to the poor villagers. We noticed the differences in the society and how there people lived a life of sheer ignorance and cut off from rest of the world.…
