Fiction vs nonfiction
Fiction vs. nonfiction

We all read something every day from newspapers, magazines and many other publications. We spend a limited time on these, as we are reading the newspaper in the morning while sipping our first cup of coffee for the day, or a magazine article during some of our free time.
When I was a child. I anticipated to learn reading just for fairytale that mother was reading for me before the bedtime. When I grew up , I knew those stories called fiction.

Fiction and non-fiction works have differences and similarities as different kinds of literature. They can best be compared and contrasted in many ways. We can discuss them for their meaning, differences, similarities and examples
Fiction and nonfiction meet in a point where they both major kinds of human literature. They both have the same audience. They are mostly written materials.
They’re both stories that have characters and emotions. They’re both interesting. the fictions simply are materials in which the events and characters are imagined by the author . On the other hand, works of nonfiction are meant to be factual. The main purpose of fiction is to entertain. It gives the reader a theme, moral or a lesson. It must be read in order. Whereas the nonfictions inform the reader and give directions for something and it must be read in order. In nonfiction the pictures is always realistic. It could be read with any order
Examples of fictions are plays, stories and poetry. Examples of nonfictions are :
Newspaper stories, journal articles, textbooks, legal documents .

After comparing and contrasting fiction and nonfiction, I think I prefer nonfiction, because, they are more enjoyable to read.

The relationship between fiction and nonfiction is very elaborate. The book, The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle deals with a family experiencing accidents each year in October and now they want to figure out why. In the book, Cara and her ex-step-brother accidentally fall in love. This tends to happen more often than we think in the world we live in. Fiction is a story that is created from your imagination but can also be inspired by true events. Nonfiction is a true story about real people and real events. But fiction reading is able to influence our ideas about real life.…

In an elementary curriculum, students must be able to determine the difference between a book that is fiction and a book that is non-fiction in the library. Most will tell you the gimmick, “Fiction means “fake” and non-fiction means “not fake””. While yes these kids are correct what happens when something is in-between- not fake, but not all real? The muddy water in-between is called literary non-fiction. Truman Capote brought this genre to the surface of the literary world with his 1966 novel, In Cold Blood, the followings of the aftermath of the Clutter family from Kansas. Thought the novel, Capote shows that to have a good piece of literary non-fiction, the author must have a good imagination, use a sustainable topic and heavily research their topic. Literary Non-Fiction is a type of prose that employs the literary techniques usually associated with fiction or poetry to report on persons, places, and events in the real world.…

To start this journal, I would just like to say "Genre Fiction" should not be compared, honestly with "Literary Fiction." After reading the short story by Benjamin Percy, "Refresh, Refresh," I became very depressed. After reading the "Literary Revolution in the Supermarket Aisle: Genre Fiction is Disruptive Technology," I discovered why. "Refresh, Refresh" is what I would call a piece of Literary Fiction. It has merit and depth, and yet so does Genre Fiction. "Refresh, Refresh" is also "Genre Fiction," as well. However, Literary Fiction helps us escape reality as does Genre, but Literary just gives us more problems. Depressing, ulcer-causing, loss of appetite problems.…

“Books are uniquely portable magic,” Stephen King wrote in On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. I quite agree with this view. Are fiction stories always based on imagination? Or does it come from someone’s reality? Have you ever asked yourself why people read fiction stories? Either told through movies or books, fiction stories are ways people find to escape from their reality. However, most of the fiction stories come from people’s life, or are based in a real fact in order to be credible. In some ways, the truth must be distorted to be understandable, because sometimes it can be too complex to be explained. Both Reading Lolita in Tehran, by Azar Nafisi, and How To Tell a True Story, by Tim O’Brien, attempt to discover the truth even if it was exemplified by fiction, however, the searches were for different environments, gender, circumstances, and purposes.…

My favorite fiction story I read in the textbook is “Hunters in the Snow” by Wolff. This story is a literary fiction because it interpreted real life situations. All through the story, Tub was faced with the harsh treatment of Kenny and Frank until Tub finally had enough. Everything started turning around for Tub after he shot Kenny in the woods. At the end of the story the readers find out that they made the wrong turn going towards the hospital but Tub, Kenny, and Frank don’t know that so it leaves the following scene as a mystery. Fiction literature is extravagant for whatever reason anyone would like because of the fantasy it brings…

Genre fiction, also known as popular fiction, refers to plot-driven fictional works written with the intent of fitting into a specific literary genre, in order to appeal to readers and fans already familiar with that genre. Genre fiction is generally distinguished from literary fiction. Fiction is mainly known as literature in the form of prose, especially short stories and novels, that describes imaginary events and people. Fiction is an out for two people: the reader, and the author. It allows the reader to escape from their reality and engulf themselves in a fantasy world. It helps to calm their worries. Or getaway from them for the time being. For the author, fiction allows them to put out their feelings by putting them into a fantastical…
