Have women proven that their capable of performing at the level of men? Women 's rights have been an ongoing movement and issue for hundreds of years. They have already proven that regardless off the obstacles that have been placed by others that they can still strive for success. Although improvements have been made, women still only earn 75 cents of a man’s dollar. Since Cady Stanton 's declaration women have broken miraculous barriers. Now that women are breaking away from the shackles bestowed upon them, women have learned to understand the importance of freedom. Uneducated judgments and inaccurate stereotypes on a group of people is never acceptable.…
Women were put into the workforce because men were out at war. Many women volunteered for the Red Cross to become nurses. Women were also put into factories to aid in the mass production of goods such as weapons and foods for the men in the military. Since women were never given the choice to work before, now that they have the right, they start to push for…
If the job being performed is of equal value then the pay should be equal, regardless of gender.…
Thanks to these major advancements in fighting for equal rights for women there are many positions that used to be male dominated, and know female have taken over them such is; managers, supervisors, coordinators, judges, teachers, bankers, doctors, police officers, firefighters, politicians, engineers, and financial specialist etc. The fight will continue in order for women to get equal right as men because we are all humans and deserve to be treated equally and with…
These are my own thoughts on this contentious topic: a woman should not get as much pay anyway. I mean, why do they deserve this? I have seen women make great mothers, wives and housekeepers without having to step a foot outside of their houses. I have seen smart, intelligent women do what they are told by their husbands what to do and they do so without an argument. Nowadays it all seems to boil down to being superior to the male however this must come to a stop. The more women’s rights there are, the fewer men’s rights there will…
Women Get Paid Less, Here’s Why. You’ve likely heard of the wage gap. 79 cents to a woman for every dollar a man earns. However, how factually sound are these arguments? Do women really get payed less than men?…
For obvious reasons, women should be treated fairly in all manners. Nowadays, the average household typically requires income from both men and women, which means that being paid equally is essential. That being noted, one is aware that there are certain occupations and professions that require abilities that men tend to excel in. Only in such circumstances should the difference in pay be acceptable. In the end, women currently have better opportunities and options in regards to employment and resources than they have had in history. Women are now able to further their education, open their own businesses, and receive promotions where applicable, thus creating the potential to earn even more than a…
Many people believe that there is no inequality when it comes to how much women make compared to how much men make. There is a lot of data that supports the fact that men do make more than women. In 99.6% of jobs in America, women make seventy-seven cents for every dollar that a man makes.…
women have proven that they are just as capable as men in the workforce. Women have…
Women have experienced a historic situation of inequality in the social as well as professional aspects. Women are normally the ones that would take care of the children, do the household chores, and in rural areas; they would work in the field with the rest of the family. Just like how the Breaking Barriers article states, “from an early age, girls are dressed in pink boys in blue. Boys are given trucks to play with while girls are offered dolls [..] girls are assigned household duties like washing the dishes and doing laundry, while boys are relegated to mowing the lawn and talking out the trash” (18). Gender inequality in the workplace is becoming less common; yet, gender is a factor that affects both men and women. Also, in Breaking Barriers article it says how “females and males often choose career paths that are traditional for their gender” (18). Females are usually seen in jobs such as nursing or paralegals. Males are typically doing jobs that have to do with welding, carpentry, or engineering. Women could have the same capabilities and maybe even higher qualifications than a men going for the same position, but because of gender inequality the male is more likely to get the job then the female. Men and women should be offered the same job opportunities no matter what gender they are; it should be based on their ability to complete the…
There are so many forms of gender inequality. The article “What Are You Worth?” by Jessica Hamzelou discusses about wage differences between men and women. For instance in the article Hamzelou says that in America it is a well known fact that “women are still earning…
Throughout the years men have been superior to women in labor and in gender. It’s no surprise that even to this day men are still at a higher level than women. It is a fact that women are paid less than men by a vast amount. During the American Revolution women were mostly at home serving as house maids while men did work labor and brought home the money. In the year 1970, white men were paid 100 percent of their earnings while white women got paid 58.7 percent, there is no denying the difference in the wage gap between genders. In addition, the wage gap didn't affect gender only it affected race and ethnicity. In that same year 1970, black men got paid 69.0 percent of their earnings while black women got paid 48.2 percent, it was always men…
Women of the United States have been one of the leading forces that gave the country successes and allowed it to reach the heights of success it has in this world. Nearly 100 years ago, women in America did not have a right to vote, but as that changed many things changed. With time women earned respect and earned a much higher status in every aspect of their lives. Women proved to be great wives, mothers, leaders, role models, fighters, and much more. Despite all their efforts, eager to earn higher maximum potential, they have failed to do so, why? Because as a country, as a society, the United States still needs to evolve and give its women the same respect and status as it has been giving to its men; this includes their wages. Women in the United States, on average, still earn less money for…
Women began working during World War 1 where there weren't enough men to do the jobs because they had gone to war. Women step in as big contributors to help run the country, not the household. They had work in industries that were mostly held by men such as doing factory work, buses and tram conductors, postal workers, and doing police jobs (Striking Women). Because women weren't making the same amount of money that men were making, The National War Labor Board wanted to pass the equal pay law that women should get paid equally as their competitors not getting paid less. Therefore, in 1963 John F Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act to abolish wage gap differences among different sex,…
In my personal opinion, I’m completely for woman’s rights. I truly believe that we should all be treated equally, no matter what our genders are. There are still so many different issues and adversities woman face today, and I feel that it is completely uncalled for. They work just as hard as we do, some of them work even harder than we do, depending on their situations. Some women are single mothers, working two jobs, trying…
