Fashion Admission Essay Examples
Since I could remember i've always had a passion for fashion, it might sound cliche but it is true. I vividly recall me playing dress up in my mom's clothes and putting on a fashion show for my stuffed animals. At first, I wanted to be a designer and sew. So I started off taking sewing classes and making little outfits for my bears. Over time I realized that I did not enjoy sewing, though I was good at it, it just was not for me. What I did enjoy was putting outfits together. Every night I could not wait to pick out something to wear for school the next day. That is when it clicked, I wanted …show more content…
I worked hard in school to get the grades I needed to attend LIM college to enroll in their Visual Merchandising Bachelors Program with a concentration in Styling. I was then employed at Old Navy and Journeys where I worked as a sales associate to gain a better understanding of the many jobs in the fashion industry. To gain even more experience I created my high school's very first fashion club where we put on a now annual fashion show. I helped host the show and style the models while also handling behind the scenes aspects. I, later on, shadowed local designer, Ms. Evy Woods helping her prepare her fashion show at the Black Congressional Caucus. This event is where I really got to see what a real fashion show entails, which made me fall in love with fashion all over again! As of today I am currently applying for internships and volunteering for New York City fashion week to get even more experience. Eventually, I hope to attend LIM's guest speaking events to hear from people in the industry who have gone through the same process as me. I have done quite a few things to help me gain experience in the industry but I have so much more to

By: Heather Hale Cover Girl cosmetics have been the top-seller since 1961 and are still going strong. It is hard, with all the advanced lines of make-up for one product to go as far as Cover girl has, so how does Cover Girl cosmetics do it? A lot of Cover Girl's strong, on going successes are due to changing the look of the product, exceptional promotions which the public can't look over, giving a cosmetic appeal to both older and younger aged women and most importantly by using near perfect women and teens to model their products. Although it's wonderful that Cover Girl has been and still is so successful, it has put a dentation in today's society in what women's appearance should and shouldn't be. Women and young adolescence are confused of what their appearance should be. Cover Girl has many famous models; one inparticular is the famous country singer Faith Hill. Faith is tall, skinny, and flawless. When women see models like her doing the advertising for Cover Girl, they automatically feel that they should look the same. Later in this paper I will go into semiotics which derives from the Greek word semeion meaning sign, it basically describes how people interpret different signs, such as models, and how these signs might effect one's life and self-esteem. Proctor & Gamble are the owners and starters of Cover Girl cosmetics. To keep up the success of Cover Girl they must keep on top of the advertising game to stay above the competitors. To do this they do many promotions, some include using famous singers, changing displays, giving away samples and one of the most important advertisement of all is the models Cover Girls incorporates in their ads. Cover Girls did one promotion with Target stores to promote their product. They used the famous group 98 Degrees to make a sweepstakes called, "Fall in Love with 98…

I need guidance from the experts in the business and fashion industries. Previously, I took fashion courses back in Indonesia and had a mentor that taught fashion illustration. Likewise, I have prepared myself to join the program by completing the prerequisites for the business and economic majors in my college. Currently a senior at EDCC, I have been trying my best to maintain a GPA of 3.82. Besides my study, I am also an active contributor to a non-profit Indonesian student organization in Seattle called Rajawali. On account of my duty as an event organizer, I get to meet a lot of Indonesian students currently studying and help them get to know their peers from other colleges. To help improve our community, I also encourage my peers to volunteer for EDCC’S Trashy Tuesday, where we pick up trash around the…

As a little girl i used to love going and getting my hair cut, dyed and everything in between. Around when i turned fourteen i started to take an interest in doing my own makeup just for fun and giggles, and i started going with my mom, aunts and grandma to watch them when they would get their hair done. Maybe there's no question as to why i have a passion for cosmetology. Throughout highschool i took classes that allowed me to really express who i was. Sophomore year i took a basic drawing and painting class at Meadowdale high school, where we focused mostly on drawing and shading of objects. It didn't take me long before i developed an opinion of my own artwork and seeing as i was fourteen almost fifteen i didn't think much other than that i hated everything about my work. It was sloppy and unorganized. At…

I am the perfect candidate for the Fashion Institute of technology because I am inquisitive; I am always craving more knowledge no matter what the topic - I am a leader, I enjoy coming up with fresh, new ideas and I am an intensely passionate person. Though, unlike many other FIT applicants, I haven’t always had a “passion for fashion”. Growing up, I wanted to be an Architectural engineer. It wasn’t until someone close to me gave me my first Michael Kors handbag my 8th grade year that I began to develop the passion I have now. Handling this bag was when realized my obsession with high-end fashion was only beginning. I was amazed at the production work put into making the merchandise. Of course the beauty of fashion is interesting, but what…

Every morning, thousands of groggy students make their way to their bedroom closets and ask themselves the same thing: “What am I going to wear today?” The question itself is simple, but as we all know, first impressions mean everything in this world and that makes finding the answer a bit difficult sometimes. The result is a campus full of (hopefully) fully-dressed students that can be divided into three distinct styles; the over-dresser, the casual dresser, and the anti-dresser, that can help tell us more about the kind of students we have here at Taylor’s.…
