Farewell Speech at School
FREE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION SPEECHES

Good Evening Honored Guests, Ladies, Gentlemen and Students -

Our high school years seem to have passed in a flurry of activities: courses attended, grades attained, extra curricular activities, social events and lesson learned. It is hard to believe that the next few months will see the Graduating Class of [insert year] facing new horizons and challenges.

Some of us may stay closer to home, some may move slightly further away and yet others may find themselves in a totally different continent.

Free high school graduation speeches continued.

Where ever you may find yourself and what ever challenge you may have chosen to follow and explore - hold true to what shaped your yesterdays; acknowledge and appreciate what you are today and dare to be all that you can be tomorrow!

As the Graduating Class of [insert year] we need to express our gratitude for the wonderful opportunities that we were exposed to. Our thanks must go to all the staff and the management of [insert name of high school]. We are privileged to have attended this school. [Insert name of school] offers a world class education - of that we have no doubt. As we make a relatively smooth transition into life beyond school, I am sure that the fine education that we received will stand us in good stead - time and again.

Our thanks must also extend to our parents and guardians. You have remained committed to our education, but more importantly, you have remained committed to us. You have stood by our sides, even when things may have seemed a bit rocky - steadfast and constant - stability in a time of turmoil, hesitancy and our quest for independence.

Today, we stand on the brink of a new chapter in our lives. Take a moment to reflect on everything that we have achieved. Take a moment to look back and to see and appreciate just how far we have all come. Today is our opportunity to acknowledge our accomplishments.

Some may have achieved more than others with relative ease. Some may have had to work harder...may have had to dig deeper to find the resolve to continue to meet the challenge - and perhaps some may have let opportunities pass them by?

Either way, today, you need to acknowledge where you are. You may find that your high school years were years well spent. You may find that you regret some of the opportunities that you allowed to slip by. Acknowledge them, accept them and then prepare to move on...to tomorrow!

You need to dare to dream to be all that you can be tomorrow.

Dale Carnegie said, "The person who goes furthest is generally the one who is willing to DO and DARE!" This is the challenge that lies before you this evening. Dare to be all that you can be.

Dare to chase your chosen career -

Dare to excel -

Dare to go the extra mile -

Dare to show compassion -

Dare to make your mark in the world -

Dare to have empathy -

Dare to be the best you can be... and then DO it!

Overly simplistic? Probably. Within our reach? Definitely!

My thanks and fondest best wishes go with you one and all.

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

These past years have been eventful, exciting, and strange. I have formed new friendships, and left some behind as I’ve grown. I have been challenged in certain aspects of academics, and in social situations, but all of these have built me up into the person I am today. Although our class has made our fair share of mistakes and bad decisions, they do not define us, and I know we will continue…

This graduation has already shown us how capable we all are of accomplishing our goals when we really want it. I hope all of us here today can take this personal accomplishment as an example of how anything is truly possible when we put our minds to it. As we all continue on in our lives, let us take each new problem on with confidence, knowing that we have achieved great heights and are equipped with the necessary tools to tackle our futures. The road that lies ahead will not be easy. There will be obstacles and missed opportunities. There will be times when each of us will feel like we cannot possibly go on or when we feel like we are alone. But you can go on and you are not alone, we are all in this journey together. We have made it this far, why should we back out now? As my mother has told me “nothing worthwhile is ever easy”, and that includes making the most of our futures. From this day forward, let us make each decision with our best interests in mind. Let us believe in ourselves so that we may reach our goals and fulfill our dreams. Let us be the best we can be so that we may fill our lives with happiness and pride. We have already taken the first step by making it to this ceremony today, now, it is time to take the next steps in the journey that is our lives and begin to build our futures. Do you know what an eagle does when a storm is coming? The eagle will fly to high spot, and wait for the winds to arrive. When the…

It seems like it was just yesterday that our class of 2011 walked in to John Glenn High School for the very first time as freshmen. I can still clearly remember how nervous and excited we all were to finally be with the “big kids.” Some of us were so scared we were sick, others were lost in the huge hallways amongst the tall crowd, and others were more ready than ever to go to each class that day. Honestly, it is hard to believe that that was four years ago, and here we are today reading our final speech assignments of high school to each other. In about a week, we will no longer be high school students, but instead we will be high school graduates and soon enough, college students. So as we longingly await May 21st, I will proceed with my final speech assignment about one of our very own classmates, Nicole Hentsch.…

Four years ago we stepped into high school as individuals seeking to do well, to find our identity, to find our best friend. We opened our lockers for the first time, looked at our schedules, and thought about how awesome it was to finally be in high school. Four years ago we met our best friend, went to our first school dance, and had a crush on a cute senior. Four years ago, we couldn't wait to get older.…

As I begin, I have to say, I think the best speeches are those that have a great beginning, a memorable end, and not much in between. I will try then to make a great speech. Today is one of those great occasions when we get to celebrate our young people – their achievements, their perseverance and their successes as they grow up. It’s one of the times you can take a break and reflect, feeling good as a parent or a mentor, knowing that the kids you care about are doing just fine and they’re on the right path.…

We have waited for this moment all our lives, the moment when we leave our childhood behind and step into the world to forge our own paths in life. We have counted down the years, the months, the hours, minutes and seconds, and finally, and I’m very near that moment, very close to graduating High School. I find myself not a little sad, for I will be leaving behind people that shaped my life to what I am today.…
