Fairy Tale
Once upon a time there was a beautiful and rich princess, every man in the kingdom fell for her the first time they saw her. She was selfish and snobby to others. One day a fairy flew into her castle and cursed her. The curse made the princess ugly and fat. No one knew that she was still the princess, so she was kicked out of the kingdom. The princess didn’t nowhere to go. She walked for three miles and then found a cottage that was empty. She walked inside and started to build a fire. While she was getting settled in, a beggar knocked on the door. The princess opened the door and the beggar asked to come inside for warmth. The princess slammed the door in his face. As soon as she did that she grew uglier and fatter. The next day, the princess started to plant a garden, with carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes. That night an ugly man asked for a carrot and the princess said no. She again grew fatter and uglier. The lonely princess was upset and didn’t understand why she was getting fatter and uglier. The next day she went on a walk to town, when she was walking past Forever Fairytales there was a man asking for food, she ignored him. As she walked away she grew fatter and uglier. Now the princess was so fat that she couldn't walk.
It was then that the princess realized that whenever she did and bad deed she grew fatter and uglier. She thought if she did three things right, because she did three bad deeds she would grow skinner and beautiful again. The next day when the beggar asked to come in for warmth she said “Sure! Come on in!” At first nothing happened so the princess was upset, but when she woke up in the morning she was skinnier and prettier!
Then the princess knew for sure that all she had to do was two more good deeds and she would be normal again! So that afternoon when the beggar came and asked for carrots she said “Sure! Take a basket!” Then, once again when she woke up the next day she was a little skinnier and prettier. Right away the

"Cinderella" is perhaps the most recognized fairy tale in history, one of the few that spans across generations and cultures. Every prominent culture in the world tells some similar version of this story of a poor girl going from rags to riches; over 700 versions have been accounted for worldwide. In America, numerous authors have penned their own version of the classic folktale. One of these is Tanith Lee, a prolific writer of stories for young adults. Lee cleverly found a way to include all of the traditional elements of the classic "Cinderella" tale, but added a new twist: Cinderella, or the character similar to her in this story, had malicious intentions for the prince, and her purpose throughout the tale was a malevolent one: revenge.…

This time the bird threw down an even more spectacular dress than before. This time her slippers were gold. Again that night, Cinderella and the Prince danced the entire time. When she was ready to go again, the Prince wanted to follow, but Cinderella had escaped again. This time she left behind one of her gold slippers. The next morning the Prince told the King that his wife would be the one who could fit the golden slipper. The first stepsister had to cut off her big toe in order to get the slipper on. The Prince took her on his horse and as they passed the hazel tree the birds cried out: “Turn and peep, turn and peep, There’s blood within the shoe, The shoe it is too small for her, The true bride waits for you”. The Prince looked down and saw the blood and took her back to the house. The stepsister told him, that her sister is the true bride. The other sister then tried on the slipper and was able to get her toes in but her heel was too big. So she had to cut her heel down some in order to be able to fit the slipper. Once she walked out, the Prince took her to his horse. Again as they passed the hazel tree the birds cried out: “Turn and peep, turn and peep, There’s blood on the shoe, The shoe is too small for her, The true bride waits for you.” Again the Prince turned around and took her back to the house and asked if any other lady stayed there. She also says she’s thinking of a fairy tale where the beauty has “fingers as plump as sausage” (14). This simile is used to describe a woman who’s so overweight that even her fingers are rounder than the skinny princesses’.…

Anne Sexton’s “Cinderella” illuminates the unrealistic and prejudiced stereotypes in age-old fairy tales, stereotypes inadvertently etched on the minds of millions of children. Sexton uses a conversational tone that remains oblivious to the initial hardships of the “rags to riches” maiden to highlight the insignificance and passiveness of women and the influential and dominant character of men. She conveys to the world’s audience of fairy tale lovers the blatant inequality in “Cinderella,” showing that this model fairy tale simply does not add up to be “happily ever after.”…

Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were both great blessings and miracles to their parents. Sleeping Beauty’s parents tried to conceive for years without luck, until one day a frog came to them and said, “Within a year a princess will be born.” Within that year the king and queen did have a daughter. Snow Whites birth was a miracle because one day the queen was sitting in front of ebony window sewing, when she pricked herself with the needle and three drops of blood fell onto the snow white ground. She thought to herself how she wished she could have a daughter white as snow, red as blood, and as black as the ebony window. Later that year she was blessed with a baby girl who had skin as white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony and named her Snow White. Both Sleeping Beauty and Snow White had miraculous births and won the hearts of their kingdoms and on the day they were born. Unfortunately, Snow White’s mother died from her wish and never saw how truly beautiful her daughter was destined to become, and her father married an evil queen. Sleeping Beauty had a dinner in her honor where she was blessed 12 different times and cursed once.…
