Exploring the Scope of Biological Sciences
Growing up in the high mountains and loft hills in North-Western Spain, I have long been habituated to the beauty of nature. However, when our biology teacher at high school presented us with the double-spiral structure of DNA, I was utterly thrilled by its astounding beauty. This made me realize that there is another aspect of natural beauty, the beauty of life science, which is of far greater and more immediate relevance to human welfare. From the very outset of my biology study, I have been guided by the pursuit of this powerful yet mysterious beauty and its underlying mechanisms. Although there are many other important dimensions to the study of biology, my interest in biology as a discipline of beauty and mysteries remains paramount.
Throughout high school and college thus far I have taken a rigorous curriculum and maintained a 4.0 grade point average, undertaking mostly courses under the Biological Sciences frame. I have particularly excelled in such core courses as Advanced Cell Biology, Chemistry for Life Sciences,Special Subject of Genetics, Gene Evolution, and Biomedical Sciences, all of which are highly relevant to the program I am applying for. In addition, I have acquired some research experience by undertaking two Summer Placements as a Research assistant and Technician both in Spain and Mexico; gaining tremendous experience in critical areas that have helped me gain an insight of where my real passion is.
Chosing your Undergraduate Research programme will help me cultivate a number of essential technical and non-technical skills that will benefit me now and throughout my career no matter my eventual career choice. Lastly, undergraduate research will literally give me a leg up on competition when it comes to admission to the graduate or pre-professional program of my choice.
As an ambitious individual, I have excellent teamwork skills combined with the discipline to work extremely well on my own if required, and would be well suited
