“Deeper Than Evil “

Based on the content I reviewed from multiple sources I believe that the 21st century has evolved in such a way that evil has lost it's appeal. This essay will elaborate on how the word “evil” is unproductive. Analyzing the connection between fear and hate will strengthen my point. This essay will also discuss Adolf Hitler and Donald Trump and how the terms “ fear” and “hate” impacted their political decisions. There is a reason for each action it is imperative that the reason is looked into in order to respond effectively. Instead of labeling someone evil we need to investigate why the person responded that way. According to Matt Nuenke hate comes from fear or disgust. “ Hatred then (made up of fear and/or disgust)

“ In the article “Hate, Fear and Disgust Evolutionary Tribal Survival “ he mentions that hate is the important emotion that keeps people going. The hate inspires people to come together out of fear or dislike for something or someone. It can disappear when the threat goes away. “Hate is what motivates tribes to form alliances, it is the unrestrained joy of the anticipated battle with neighboring tribes, it is blood-lust, it is the fear that is covered up in an excitement of final conquest .... It is what helps keep us alive when there is danger present, and it expresses itself as a sense of fear or disgust of the other” ( Matt Nuenke) It's natural to be defensive against any potential threats that is the only way to survive. It is however important to address that emotions such as hate and fear can push people to display defensive …show more content…
During his campaign he mentioned that immigrants are a problem and that Mexico dumped them in the U.S. According to the article Trump Hypothesis Donald Trump said “ When do we beat Mexico at the border? “They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they’re beating us economically . . . The US has become a dumping ground for everyone else’s problems. These aren’t the best and finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best . . . They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems to us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people “ When Trump became president he conducted raids to remove majority of the immigrants. He credits President Eisenhower's “ Wetback Operation” as inspiration for his raids. Trump thought the results from the operation were effective and, wanted the same to happen again. According to the article “Trump's Crackdown seems to be Designed to Spread Fear” 680 immigrants from 12 states wear arrested and 75% had criminal backgrounds. However, Immigration and Customs Enforcement data says that most of the immigrants arrested didn't have prior criminal convictions. Both data contradict one another making it difficult to decide if immigrants are really the threat that Trump claims. The article “ Trump

Is it possible to be good and evil at the same time? Lord of the Flies by William Golding investigates the quick deterioration of good in human society without structure. Within the novel, the character Piggy demonstrates good and evil and how the evil actions of others affects good and how even good can have an evil streak. To begin, Ralph comes back from Jack’s tribe’s feast to find Piggy and some littluns the “only one[s] left” (155) in Ralph’s group. This represents the good side of Piggy, as Piggy is the only child that understands what is going on, and yet is still loyal to Ralph. Piggy symbolizes trust and enthusiasm throughout the novel, and is a significant advisor to Ralph, even after being wronged through most of the story. Lastly,…

We are receiving way too many illegal immigrants who come to the country and stay without any visas or citizenship papers. Illegal immigration is a huge problem because these people cost the government over 113 billion dollars a year (Trump 287). This is way too expensive and we need to find ways to bring this number down. In one of his campaign speeches, our republican candidate, Donald Trump, talks about this issue and gives alternative options on different ways to fix it. He proposes, “On day one, we will begin working on as impenetrable physical wall on the southern border.” and he adds, “Mexico will pay for the wall.” (Trump 287-288). This is a very idealistic approach to the illegal immigrant problem, however it will not solve many problems at all. Not all illegal immigrants are from Mexico. An immigration article by the New York Times titled, “Here’s the Reality About Illegal Immigrants in the United States” states that about half of the 11 million illegal immigrants are from Mexico, however the other half are from countries such as, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and China (Yee, Davis, and Patel). This shows that we stereotype mexicans as being in the country illegally, when in reality, there are many people from other countries that you wouldn't even think about. President Trump also has a…

The United States is considered “the land of opportunity” for everyone. America welcomes the people that other countries don’t want, or at least we used to. The Statue of Liberty even says “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”-The New Colossus. America once expected immigrants to come in and rise up the ranks, become wealthy and to live the “American Dream”. Immigrants thought this too, and that’s why they took many, many great risks to get here. But, now, Donald Trump thinks immigrants are taking away our jobs and polluting our ‘Merican blood. He is putting a ban on any immigration, especially from Mexico…

Trump should not only blame Mexico for all crime activities resulting from illegal immigration such as drug traffickers, gangs, and cartels. Many of the crimes that America has seen has not only be committed by illegal immigrants. There has been similar cases of rapes, shootings, robberies, and killings in the news involving both black and white Americans as well. Even if Mr. Trump kick all them out, this will not solve all the problems. Some of these illegal immigrants pay taxes and work hard to provide for their family. In fact, the undocumented immigrants leave their own country, Mexico, in search of better life, job opportunities, and safety. The American dream is the driving force of melting pot and HB2. I think Mr. Trump is being a little bit unfair with undocumented immigrants because many of the American citizens are born of undocumented immigrants. By enforcing mass deportation, Mr. Trump is going to divide families. His attitude against undocumented could eventually result in more hatred against him and the country itself. By cancelling visas, the relationships between the United States and Mexico can be jeopardized. The Mexican government may decide to cut economic ties with the United…

Recently here in America, many citizens are still in loathe of us immigrants, especially the president, Trump. He dislikes the fact that different backgrounds are flourishing in this country and will stop at nothing until we're all gone. He criticizes all of us together with one’s mistake and label us, “rapists and criminals” even though he has no idea why most of us choose to come because some are here as refugees escaping from violent places to seek safety, while the majority of us like you and I, mom, are hoping to pursue the American Dream by working hard day and night until it becomes a reality.…

The United States of America is branded as the land of opportunities and a place where anyone can come and make a better life for themselves. Which is why many people choose to immigrate to the U.S. the Center for American Progress reports that “The foreign-born population consisted of 40.7 million people in 2012. Broken down by immigration status, the foreign-born population was composed of 18.6 million naturalized U.S. citizens and 22.1 million noncitizens in 2012. Of the noncitizens, approximately 13.3 million were legal permanent residents, 11.3 million were unauthorized migrants, and 1.9 million were on temporary visas”(2014). There are some people who think that immigrants are bad for this country because they supposedly come and take American peoples jobs and they get help from the government costing tax payers a lot of money. There are people now like the presidential candidate Donald Trump who believe that Immigrants from Mexico are “Bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists” (Trump, 2015). Trump is proposing building a real border to keep illegal immigrants out.…

(The Real Problem with Immigration... and the Real Solution, 2006). The majority of these immigrants are of the Hispanic race, and they are coming in swarms legally, as well as illegally. The illegal immigrants are able to find sanctuary in cities that are accepting of illegal immigrants, these cities are coined “sanctuary cities”. These cities, are harboring the immigrants, and in some cases have been known to protect them from deportation. These actions are undermining our national government as well as forfeiting national security, because many of these immigrants are violent. One suspect in a murder case has been convicted of 7 felonies and has been deported 5 times. (boozeman.senate.gov,) People such as this man show the real dangers of having illegal immigrants in our country. Other situations could include aliens being unregistered sex offenders, as well as common thieves. The major economic problem that they bring up is; when Illegal immigrants are employed, their work is done “under the table” or they aren’t legally employed; therefore their income is not registered by the federal government, and their fair amounts of taxes are not paid. These same people can work for less than minimum wage and can impose on the American labor…

With so much diversity in the world, there will always be conflicts about beliefs and feelings towards each other. When those who act out on these negative feelings towards minorities, it is called a “hate crime”. To combat these vicious and horrible offenses, throughout history, presidents and National leaders have declared a symbolic “war on hate”. From President Clinton calling for a foreign expansion of hate crime laws to President Obama waging an entire war on terrorism. Although we’d like to think the opposite, hate certainly holds a large place in today’s society, in Andrew Sullivan’s “What’s so Bad About Hate”, he state that we do not exactly know what hate is: “For all our zeal to attack hate, we still have a remarkably vague idea of what it actually is,” (Sullivan, 182). Is hate however, too big to just ignore? While we all might have something about us for some one to hate, specific groups are mostly targeted and have it much worse.…
