At the beginning of the share, I would like to ask you a question. Can we control our life, whether survive or die?
Today, I am going to talk about euthanasia. The meaning of euthanasia is ‘positive death’ that refers to painless death. Euthanasia is completely legalized in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg.
However, I disagree that ‘euthanasia’ should be legalized by government to let patients on the verge of death can relieve their pain.
First, life is valuable. Euthanasia is to permit people to commit suicide that violates law of nature and ethics. From a religious point of view, human life comes from the God that its termination should also be decided by the God. Doctors or patients act as the God that is not permitted and it is unreasonable. Therefore, the legalization of Euthanasia will induce opposition from society that sways social harmony.
Next, Euthanasia may release patients from pain but it is palliative which cannot solve the problem at its source. Actually, many terminally ill patients can still survive finally. With the advanced medical development, it is possible that we can find out new therapies to turn terminally to non-terminally. Therefore, the legalization of Euthanasia which let patients choose to die at ease is to deprive the chance of being cured by new therapies of patients in the future.
By and large, we cannot control our life or committing suicide. The today that you squandered, is the tomorrow that people who passed away yesterday were hoping for.
