Essential Hypertension

Essential hypertension is called primary hypertension or idiopathic hypertension. The reason is the causes of the high blood pressure is unknown. Also, it tends to develop progressively over number of years. Unlike essential hypertension, the causes of secondary hypertension are identifiable. The causes of the secondary hypertension include kidney problems, adrenal gland tumors, thyroid problems, and alcohol abuse, birth control pills. Also, another major difference of the secondary hypertension is it tends to appear suddenly and cause higher blood pressure than does primary hypertension.
