There are always people who, in a society, come out with better qualities to be a leader than others. The strongest people nevertheless, become the major influences, which the others determine to follow. However, sometimes the strongest person is not the finest choice. With all their dedication and loyalty, they were successfully manipulated and transformed into Jack’s deranged image. On the other hand, Piggy, contributed to the group like a follower should. Ralph wasn’t smart when it came to the dispirited island, but he used Piggy’s intelligence, “For all his ludicrous body, had brains. Ralph was a specialist in thought now, and could recognize thought in another” (78). Piggy was a critical thinker and used this along with collaboration to become an ideal follower. He was courageous as well for standing up to Jack in silly arguments on Ralph’s behalf, instead of relying on Ralph to do it all. An exemplary follower always has faith in their leader and works together with others to make things
