Essay On Kinesthetic Learning
About 42% of students are visual learners and about 30% of students are kinesthetic learners.. Yet in colleges they use a lot of lecture classes when only 19% of students are auditory learners. Visual learners need to watch the teacher physically do what they're teaching or have pictures to link what they are learning to. kinesthetic learner need to actually try what they are learning for themselves. I think that the most effective way for people to learn is with a mixture of every learning type..

Lecture classes cater to the very few people who actually learn that way. Since visual learners are the most common student teachers should use more diagrams and pictures when teaching. In language classes this helps tremendously. Students could always look up what a word means but they have a hard time memorizing it. When there is a picture present the student can always think about that image and link the word to it. This could be applied to countless subjects. A very common example for visual learning is picture books for

you show up, sit down, and take notes for hours on end until your hand cramps up. Very few students prefer that kind of learning environment. Kinesthetic learners absolutely hate this style of learning. Since about a third of students are kinesthetic learners I think their learning style should be catered to in the class room. They like to try things out for themselves until they figure it out. Like in math classes they can get a formula for solving equations but they'll never fully understand how to use it properly until they try it out. When they sit in the classroom taking notes all class period they have to wait until they leave the class to try it out, which takes away time from them to learn the content to the best of their abilities. Teachers need to remember that a lot of students can't just watch them or listen to them talk about a topic and understand how it

I have always been a visual learner, although I did not realize the technical term for my condition as a child, once I became an educator and became aware of the various ways to classify learners based on their abilities and learning style, I quickly discovered who I was and was able to classify myself accordingly. Visual learners are more inclined to gain knowledge through physical interaction and hands on experience with tools they can see, rather than through verbal instructions or explanations. However, it has been my experience that all types of learners find visual aids helpful, even f they are just used as supplemental information to enhance the knowledge they gained through verbal communication. Visual aids, such as process flow charts, are…

Learning can either be successful or not, depending on the approach and strategies used by the teacher. In order for the teacher to accommodate for students with learning disabilities, here she must use differentiated instruction and multilevel assessments. Not all students can learn or perform at the same level. One might suggest strategies or approaches, such as creating a syllabus allowing the students to know what will be covered and assignments that will be expected of them throughout the course. A calendar should accompany the syllabus to assist the visual learners. Technology could be used to present information, and to assess students. This method is especially helpful for a kinesthetic learner…

Visual learners retain information best when they are able to use flow sheets, maps, diagrams or models when learning new information. This type of learner needs to observe the material in an attractive manner. The visual learner will do best if studying using pictures, logos, designs, colors, or flow charts. Seeing the picture as a whole makes it easier for the visual learner to make sense of and retain the information presented to them.…

Following the assessment, the preferred learning strategy was a kinesthetic learner, close to being a multimodal. The score was one point different between a kinesthetic learner and an auditory learner. I do tend to use my hands, use all my senses, talk out loud and repeat myself, I prefer doing experiments and hands on activities. I also have good hand-eye coordination that most kinesthetic learners tend to…

After taking the VARK learning styles questionnaire, I was defined as a kinesthetic learner. Kinesthetic learners take in information best by practicing using the information. This often involves physical activity, which is why most athletes are kinesthetic learners. I feel that the learning style assessment accurately described the way that I learn best. I do not gain much from just sitting in a lecture, but from actively engaging in the course material. Therefore, it is a valid claim that I am a kinesthetic learner.…

Visual learners, this is learning though seeing. These types of learners would need to see the teacher’s body language and the teacher’s facial expression to completely understand the content of the lesson. It is mostly that there’s types of learners normally sit at the front of the classroom to avoid visual obstructions an example would be people’s heads. Visual learners best learn from displays this includes; diagrams, illustrated text books, videos, flipcharts, use of interactive whiteboards and hand-outs. When a classroom or lesson discussion, visual learners normally want to take detailed notes to take in the information. Teachers modelling at the beginning of the three-part lesson are particularly suitable for these children. My learning technique is bodily kinesthetic. According to my personality website bodily kinesthetic learners can't stay still very long and can be very athletic. For example in class I always choose to sit on the exercise balls, and I can not really pay attention for a very long time. According to the same website bodily kinesthetic learners like to always be active. I love to always be active because I always am doing gymnastics and cheer and other active sports. Bodily kinesthetic is my technique of learning.…

During the VARK questionnaire that I took I scored an 11 on visual, aural, and read/write. The topic that I scored highest on was Kinesthetic and I scored a 12 on it. Kinesthetic is a learning tool that is hands-on approach. People that are kinesthetic are easily distracted by the activity that is going on. The difficult approach towards it would be sitting still for an amount of time, such as a lecture. I believe that Kinesthetic is a perfect fit for me because I believe that I do better when I’m doing hands-on. It is also hard for me to sit in class for a long time because I get bored just listening to the teacher talk for an hour or longer, but I do still take notes in lectures because I’m used to bulletpoints while sitting in a lecture.…

As the majority of the learning outcomes in this area are based around physical actions and observation then it follows that most of the methods employed would reflect this. When teaching CPR for example there has to be a degree of a lecture element involved to get the initial input across, this would include visual aids such as PowerPoint and video clips of the subject being put into practice.…

There are different styles a student can use to study and learn. Although most have used the procrastination style, which was not covered on the VARK questionnaire, consisting of all day and night cramming before the test. Everybody knows that the procrastination style is one of the worst ways to study and comes with the stress and anxiety. After taking the VARK questionnaire the style that best fit my study habits was kinesthetic. Kinesthetic learning revolves around hands on approach. Also known as physical learners they need to touch, feel, handle things trying things for themselves demonstrations are not always beneficial they would rather learn from trial and error. Unfortunately due to the need to…

I have always found it interesting how everyone can have a different learning style. It does not mean that one person is smarter than the other, and vice versa. Everyone is completely different with how they intake information and their learning skills. My best learning skill is Kinesthetic I am more a “hands on” learner. I have always been more successful and learned better once I actually did something hands on. I can learn verbally, and visual as well but that is my best learning technique.…

Upon completing the quiz, I found that my learning style results were quite surprising. Since I plan to have a long career as a businesswoman, I expected that my kinesthetic learning qualities would be low. Similarly, I expected my auditory learning results to be higher. This is because, as a future CPA and businesswoman, much of the information I will receive in my career is auditory and very little is kinesthetic. The other learning style results were middle of the road and expected. However, my strongest and weakest intellectual abilities, multiple intelligences, are bodily-kinesthetic intelligence and musical intelligence, which do match my learning style. Therefore, I could not be too surprised by the results. In terms of the other learning style results, they were middle of the road and thus not too remarkable or unexpected.…

Each individual in a class may fall in several group therefore the teacher should incorporate all VARK modalities when teaching their student. This will help all the students to learn instead of just a particular group of students. A teacher must cater to the attention of the Visual learner by doing role models, giving demonstration, showing visual aids or presentation of diagrams and charts to help the visual learner achieve their goal of learning. The teacher should be aware the students learning styles to create a meaningful session. If all the students in a class are aural learners the session would mostly involves lectures, instead of giving out pamphlets and giving chapters from text book to read. All this may go well for the read/write group of learners but does not help aural learners. This will help the teacher because her students will learn better and time would be used appropriately. A student can choose their method of study if they are aware of their study style. Classroom setting may go well for an aural learner and read/write learner. They will have the opportunity of listening to lectures given by their teacher and then take notes and seek clarification through asking questions. A practical course may go well for a visual learner as well as a kinesthetic they get the chance of looking at demonstration or a picture of the actual content of what is being taught.
