The United States entered the realm of imperialism at the end of the nineteenth century due to a combination of the desire for military strength, commercialism, and a belief of cultural superiority.Imperialism can be defined as the policy of extending the sphere of your country’s influence through economic,diplomatic, or military means.

According to Micah Hale, the head of the provisional government in Hawaii after he and the sugar planters with the help of U.S marines overthrow Queen Liliuokalani, the Hawaiians can be described as,”Any sane man looking at the islands today has got to admit that they require supervision by the United States of America.The indigenous citizen are for the most part illiterate, steeped in idolatry, committed to vain shows of monarchical display and totally unsuited to govern
